Com o time 100%, Mano preferiu dizer apenas que ele terá, sim, lugar no time.

Watford confirm Kwadwo Baah signing

Xisco Munoz’s Watford have confirmed the signing of Kwadwo Baah.

What’s the latest?

According to a statement posted on Watford’s official website, the former Rochdale winger has signed a five-year contract with the Hornets and will link up with Xisco’s squad ahead of the club’s 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

In a separate report by the BBC, it is claimed that the England under-18 international cost Watford a ‘six-figure fee’ and had turned down the offer of a new deal at the Crown Oil Arena.

Xisco will be buzzing

The signing of Baah can be viewed as a rather large coup for Watford and represents a fine first piece of summer transfer business that Cristiano Giaretta has got over the line for his club.

The 18-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in the January transfer window, with the deal only falling through due to an issue with his medical, while clubs such as Juventus, Bayern Munich, Rangers and West Ham United had also been credited with an interest in the youngster.

Indeed, the amount of interest in Bahh is hardly surprising when taking into account that the winger had scored three goals, provided two assists and created one big chance over his 30 League One appearances for Rochdale this season, only 13 of which came as starts.

However, while the forward – who can operate from either wing as well as a striker – will probably link up with Watford’s youth side before going on to make his Premier League debut, Xisco will undoubtedly be buzzing with the arrival of yet another highly-rated youngster, following the Hornets’ acquisition of Joao Pedro last year.

As such, with a Premier League campaign ahead of them, and a squad which is increasingly filling up with talented youngsters, things appear to be very much on the up at Vicarage Road.

West Brom: Maitland-Niles struggles in draw

West Brom edged one step closer to relegation despite Mbaye Diagne rescuing a point in the Black Country derby.

In truth, it was a game from which the Baggies needed a victory as they now sit ten points adrift of safety with only 12 left to play for, meaning they’ll need to win their four remaining matches to stand any chance of top-flight survival.

Given Albion have only won five times all season, it seems rather unlikely that they will be a Premier League outfit for much longer.

It was not the sort of performance you’d expect from a team fighting for their lives, and unfortunately for Sam Allardyce, several of his key men let him and the club down badly at The Hawthorns.

For instance, their “Rolls-Royce” loanee Ainsley Maitland-Niles was graded as West Brom’s worst-performer on SofaScore with a 6.2 rating.

The Baggies were overrun in midfield and often second best to the ball, with the likes of Ruben Neves and Leander Dendoncker getting a full grip on proceedings, so part of the blame has to be attributed to the Arsenal loanee and his fellow midfielders for a weak showing.

Indeed, the 23-year-old gem struggled in his battles, losing nine of 11 duels (82%), whilst he was dribbled past on three occasions, thus making it quite easy for Wolves to dominate in the middle. By comparison, Dendoncker won 100% of his duels and Neves was given time and space to provide three key passes, as per SofaScore.

Maitland-Niles was also rather error-prone, committing three fouls – the most of any Albion player – and he churned up possession eight times, which was once every five times he touched the ball.

Wasteful.

He even had fewer total touches (41) than Sam Johnstone (49) between the sticks, and that’s not an encouraging sign for someone who is supposed to dictate the game.

There’s no denying that the Arsenal man has undoubted potential but it is games like this where he should be shining, especially if he is to convince Mikel Arteta that he has a future back in north London.

The £16.2m-rated star, who earns a reported £35,000 per week, was handed a scathing review by the Express & Star’s Joseph Masi in his post-game column, where he claimed the midfielder was ‘almost anonymous’ in the first half and ‘offered little going forward’.

It’s clear to see that Allardyce did not benefit from the quality of Maitland-Niles here and was badly let down despite being trusted to start in such a crucial role.

Tottenham make Kalajdzic enquiry

According to a report by Fussball Transfers, via Sport Witness, Tottenham Hotspur have ‘knocked’ on the door for VfB Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic in an enquiry – with the Lilywhites now officially joining the race for his signature.

Kalajdzic, who stands at a towering 6 foot 6, appears to be on the radar of many clubs as his exploits in the Bundesliga attract attention.

Tottenham enquiry for Kalajdzic emerges

The 23-year-old has scored 15 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions for Stuttgart so far and is apparently valued at £15 million – very reasonable when taking into account his form and age (Eurosport).

This has prompted Tottenham and chairman Daniel Levy to launch an enquiry or ‘knock’ at the door – but the Lilywhites may face real competition as the Austrian is in ‘high demand’.

However, the Bundesliga side aren’t prepared to surrender him to interested parties that easily – with Fussball Transfers (via Sport Witness) relaying they will need ‘convincing’ to part ways this summer.

Transfer Tavern take

Given his exploits over 2020/2021, alongside his plethora of plaudits from those in the media, Kalajdzic could be worth the effort.

He has been described as an ‘Ibrahimovic-machine’ as he continues to draw comparisons with some of world football’s most towering and deadly forwards.

Among those names, he has even been compared to Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland (The Daily Express) – and the mooted £15 million fee amid uncertain financial times comes as a real motivator and possible bargain.

Celtic: Hughes not key to Howe’s Hoops move

Reliable reporter Alan Nixon has dropped a major update on Celtic’s pursuit of Eddie Howe on social media.

Previous reports had suggested that Howe wanted certain assurances before putting pen to paper on a Parkhead deal, as well as being able to bring Bournemouth technical director Richard Hughes with him.

As we all know, Howe is yet to seal a move to Glasgow, leading to many questioning why the deal is taking so long to finalise.

According to Nixon, Hughes isn’t central to a Celtic Park switch for Howe. The journalist was asked by a Celtic fan on Twitter if he feels the Hoops and Howe will get Hughes even if the Cherries earn promotion.

The Sun writer swiftly replied, revealing that coaches are actually a major part of the delay as he outlines: “Hughes is NOT central to this. Howe wants his own coaches though. And they’re still in work. That’s a major part of the hold up on his side.”

Transfer Tavern take

It seems as if Bournemouth’s involvement in the Championship play-offs could well be crucial to Howe sealing a move to Celtic.

Reports have named coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone as men wanted by the 43-year-old, but they will be in line for a pay rise should the Cherries return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

You’d expect that Hughes would also be in line for a pay increase, but to us it’s good news knowing that he isn’t crucial to a deal involving Howe, especially with the Hoops closing in on Manchester City’s Fergal Harkin for a boardroom role.

Howey tips Pochettino to succeed Guardiola

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Steve Howey, who made 270 appearances during his career, has claimed there are not many managers who will be able to come in and replace Pep Guardiola successfully.

Since arriving at the Etihad, Guardiola has won every trophy available to him apart from the Champions League, with the furthest stage they’ve reached being the quarter-finals.

Guardiola has made City a well-oiled machine in both attack and defence now with the addition of Ruben Dias this season, which has fixed their usually leaky defence, thus making them the favourites to win the Champions League.

Speaking on how it will be difficult to find someone capable of replacing Guardiola at City and who could fill the void, Howey told FFC:

“You’ve got Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid and there’s maybe one or two others like Tuchel at Chelsea who is very well thought of, but it was a strange one when he left PSG.

“Obviously, Mauricio Pochettino is at PSG now. So if he does well then he could potentially be a suitor for Man City. It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out over the next season or two.”

Since Man City were taken over in 2008 they have had a number of managers with a lot of them being successful domestically, like Guardiola, however, they’ve all struggled in Europe.

City face Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals of the Champions League which will give them a first-hand view of Erling Haaland who they are linked with.
