"Terrible" – David Moyes can't believe what he saw in Everton's defeat to Wolves

Following an impressive start to the season, it’s now three games without a win for Everton, who left David Moyes in a frustrated mood following defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup.

Wolves vs Everton: Toffees crash out of Carabao Cup

It’s been a tough week for the Toffees, who narrowly lost out against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby last weekend before travelling to Wolves in hope of getting back to winning ways. Once again, however, they found themselves on the losing side in a game that saw Vitor Pereira’s side outfire a blunt Everton attack.

After Marshall Munetsi opened the scoring in calamitous fashion, it was the turn of new Wolves signing Tolu Arokodare to get in on the act and end Everton’s Carabao Cup campaign before it could truly get started.

For the Toffees, all eyes will now be on a crucial game against West Ham United. If they want to prove that they’re ready to step beyond relegation scraps this season then a convincing display against the Hammers should be at the top of their priority list.

Moyes will also be hoping to see some improvement on the refereeing front after criticising the officials for the second game running last night. The Everton boss said, when asked about the treatment of Jack Grealish: “I think you might need to ask the referee that, if he thought he was giving them [fouls] because I think there was a couple of free kicks not given.

“Again, five minutes [added on] I thought looked very short on time as well, on the way the game went. We’ve not been getting much going for us, but that’s just the way it is.”

That said, most of his frustration centred around one specific moment caused by his players rather than the officials in the Midlands.

Moyes slams "diabolical" Everton moment

Moyes was particularly critical of the first goal that his side conceded, which saw them lose duels inside their own area and eventually allow Munetsi to convert a simple strike on the rebound of Mark Travers’ initial save.

Taking aim at his side, the Everton boss told reporters: “It was a 0-0 game in the first half. We gave away a diabolical goal. Wolves weren’t better than us in the first half, they were for the first 10 minutes or so, but they weren’t better.

“The game was a 0-0, they probably scored against the run of play in some ways. We gave away a terrible first goal which altered things and made the game a bit more difficult. I thought we probably dominated most of the second half, we just couldn’t find a way of getting a goal.”

'He looks better and better' – Thomas Frank confirms Randal Kolo Muani is in line to make Tottenham debut against Aston Villa

Randal Kolo Muani is set to be in contention to make his Premier League debut for Tottenham Hotspur during Sunday's fixture against Aston Villa in north London, head coach Thomas Frank has confirmed. The French forward joined on loan from PSG on transfer deadline day but has been out injured since mid-September with a dead leg, meaning Spurs fans have yet to see what he can do for the club.

Kolo Muani could be in action for Spurs on Sunday

With both Kolo Muani and Dominic Solanke out injured, Frank and Spurs have had to rely on Richarlison in front of goal thus far this season. The Brazilian has impressed with three goals and an assist in the Premier League, but it will be welcome news that Kolo Muani may now be set to return and offer renewed competition in the striker role.

The 26-year-old is well-known for being an impact substitute on France’s run to the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, almost scoring the winner in the final had it not been for a miraculous save by Emiliano Martinez.

Kolo Muani would soon move from Eintracht Frankfurt to PSG for a massive €90million (£78m/$105m), but it would not go to plan in the French capital as he scored just eight Ligue 1 goals for the club and was eventually shipped out on loan to Juventus in January 2025. After returning to form in Italy, the Old Lady battled for his signature again over the summer but lost out to Spurs – for whom he has only made a 13-minute Champions League cameo against Villarreal, before spending a month on the sidelines.

Frank said in his press conference on Friday: "Kolo Muani has trained for two weeks with the team, that's good. He looks better and better and is in contention for the squad on Sunday, so that's a positive.

“It's very important to have him fit and available. I think he looks better and better. I think it's also fair to say that he has trained two weeks with the team and when he came on the 1st of September – time flies! –  he still needed a bit to go up to the higher level. But it's not to say that he can't be involved tomorrow and maybe can play minutes. But I think it's fair to say that he needs a little bit of time to get up to a full level.”

Frank relishing challenging period of seven games in 22 days

“We love to play games,” said Frank. “Every footballer loves to play a game instead of training. Coaches, we like to train a little bit more sometimes, but in general, we love to play the games. We have a fantastic run of games ahead of us, starting with Villa on Sunday – a top team, top manager, Unai, I respect him a lot. I think what he's done in his career is amazing. What he created at Villa is fantastic in so many areas. I think they did well in the Champions League last season and almost qualified for the Champions League again, which is very impressive and I think they have a very strong team. So, yeah, looking forward to it.

“I think we all have an idea in our head what could be the strongest team with all the players available, but probably the reality is that you need to create the strongest possible team of the players you have available now. That is my task, that is my job and get the best out of that. So, it's nice to dream a little bit, but like with all dreams, it's not reality – reality is here, now, what kind of players we have available. That said, of course, I'd love some of them to be fit and available,” he added.

Kolo Muani will hope to get the chance to make his Premier League bow in Spurs' encounter with one of the division’s strongest sides in recent years in Unai Emery’s Aston Villa on Sunday, a challenge he will no doubt relish.

The Villans have made a slow start to the season but Frank made sure to underline the quality possessed in Emery’s squad, who returned to form with four successive wins in all competitions before the international break.

“When I see them performing and their structure and the way they play, I see a lot of the same that I've seen from Unai Emery's Villa team in the last three seasons. I see a lot of the same strengths,” said Frank.

“They're very, very good in the build-up and in phase two and have fantastic structure. They're very composed and have fantastic players. We know in Rogers, doing fantastic, Ollie Watkins, Malen is starting to score goals, Onana in midfield, Kamara, I know Tielemans is injury, but that's a top team. The back four is very good as well. It's a team and you can see they're growing. I expect an unbelievable, tight game on Sunday that we're very positive about and that we will do everything to edge. We hope and I believe we can, but it will be a strong test on Sunday.”

Liverpool star reveals Bayern Munich approached him before buying Luis Diaz

It wasn’t just incomings that Liverpool were focused on this summer and one Reds star has now revealed he had the chance to leave the club.

Liverpool's transformative summer defined by clever selling

Liverpool have been accused of standing still when crowned Premier League champions in the past, almost settling for what they had earned. This time, such accusations would be incredibly far-fetched. Sat atop their throne after becoming champions last season, the Reds have enjoyed a transformative summer — spending over £400m and ruthlessly selling a number of stars to fund it.

In came Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz , Giovanni Leoni and Jeremie Frimpong, and out went Harvey Elliott, Jarell Quansah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez , plus more. It was about as ruthless as it gets from Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, who have created a side capable of enjoying an era of dominance at Anfield, keeping Liverpool second in the net spend pile despite breaking the British transfer record twice.

A lot has been made of Liverpool’s spending and why they’ve suddenly spent more than ever, but one look at their summer sales will provide an emphatic answer. They’re one of the smartest clubs in European football and that was on show for all to see in the summer window.

Forget Leoni: Liverpool already have a Guehi upgrade in Slot's "monster"

The Reds didn’t just sell for any offer that came in, either. They were tactical. The likes of Nunez and Diaz were seen as players that should be moved on, but only for the right price, with the club even happy to let Diaz run his contract down rather than sell too soon for too little. Hughes and Edwards simply waited for that price to come before cashing in.

What Diaz’s move allowed them to do was also keep hold of another star, who has now spoken about interest from Bayern Munich.

Gakpo admits Bayern interest was "difficult"

Whilst it was Diaz that moved on in the end, the story could have been very different. Cody Gakpo has admitted that Bayern Munich “did come” in for his signature, but he chose to stay put at Liverpool in a “difficult” saga.

Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo for Liverpool

It’s a decision that would have been a relief to Arne Slot too, given just how emphatically the Dutchman has started the current campaign.

For all of Liverpool’s standout business, keeping hold of Gakpo will prove to be of underrated importance, with the Netherlands star signing a new contract that will keep him in red until 2030.

The winger has scored once and assisted twice in just four Premier League games this season and will be looking to keep hold of his place following the arrival of Isak on deadline day.

Tottenham pull agreement U-turn after Levy exit with big move now in limbo

Former Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s exit is having a huge ripple effect, with his departure now leaving a previous agreement to potentially collapse.

Levy resigned as Spurs chair after 24 years, leaving his long-term hands-on role at the club as the Lewis Family and ENIC attempt to usher in what they describe as a new era.

During his tenure, Levy was a polarising Tottenham figure who attracted huge criticism and disdain from sections of the fanbase — specifically over their lack of success on the pitch with just two major trophies since 2001.

In that time, Spurs were often chastised for not spending anywhere near as much as their Premier League rivals on transfers, with Levy also overseeing some disastrous decisions like certain managerial appointments.

Off the field, Levy did work wonders — transforming the Lilywhites into a revenue-generating powerhouse and overseeing the move to their brand-new state-of-the-art stadium.

There is no doubt that Spurs’ commercial appeal increased ten-fold during Levy’s stay, but the focus for ENIC, and particularly Vivienne Lewis (the daughter of Joe Lewis), is now to deliver more silverware.

Reports claim that Levy was pushed out by Tottenham and didn’t find out about his resignation until hours before it was announced (The Times), with the news leaving influential footballing figures “stunned” (Miguel Delaney).

Levy’s exit is also having an effect on Tottenham’s potential re-appointment of popular ex-managing director Fabio Paratici.

Tottenham U-turn over Fabio Paratici agreement with return now in limbo

The Italian has now served his worldwide ban from football and acted as an unofficial advisor to the club as recently as the last transfer window.

Paratici had reached an agreement to return to Tottenham in his previous managing director role from the start of next month, according to talkSPORT, but now the 53-year-old is being left in “limbo”.

As per the outlet and journalist Alex Crook, Levy’s ally may not be returning to Spurs after all, as the move to bring him back was largely driven by the club’s now-former chair.

Paratici’s appointment at Tottenham is now in serious doubt, which will come as upsetting for some supporters who were fans of the director famed for his incredible work ethic.

The former Juventus chief played a key role in the signings of Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pedro Porro and Djed Spence, among others, with Levy previously hailing Paratici as a man who “lives and breathes” football.

Perera ton gives Sri Lanka consolation win

New Zealand came close in the 219-run chase, but Sri Lanka did enough to get a consolation win

Madushka Balasuriya02-Jan-2025

In the end, Sri Lanka did enough. That’s not something you’d expect to say about a team that had racked up 218 runs in their first innings, but it speaks towards just how well New Zealand had set about their chase for most of the innings. It was a victory set up largely by Kusal Perera’s maiden T20I ton, the fastest ever by a Sri Lankan, coming off just 44 deliveries. For about 15 overs of the chase New Zealand were keeping up with the nearly 11-an-over required rate, and when Daryl Mitchell struck Charith Asalanka for four consecutive sixes in a 25-run 15th over they might have even been ahead.Sri Lanka then thought they had done enough with a couple of wickets at the death, before Zachary Foulkes’ final-over fireworks provided yet another scare. But despite frayed nerves, Sri Lanka held on to close out a consolatory seven-run win.Having entered inside the powerplay, Perera fell with less than two overs left in the innings, and such was the impact of his innings even a run-a-ball final two overs couldn’t prevent Sri Lanka from registering their second-highest T20I total ever.Asalanka also played a starring role – despite the treatment meted out by Mitchell – backing up his 46 with the bat with a three-wicket haul that derailed New Zealand’s well-planned chase. He also took a scorcher of a catch at extra cover to cap an impressive outing. There was however no looking beyond Perera for the player of the match award.Jacob Duffy, a thorn in Sri Lanka’s side throughout the series, picked up just the solitary wicket this time round, although his economy rate of 7.50 was still the best of any bowler who bowled at least two overs in the game. He was deservedly named player of the series.SL and NZ trade early blowsThe rollercoaster nature of the game was telegraphed right from the start. Sri Lanka lost three of their top four inside the opening 10 overs, and their openers inside the powerplay, but they didn’t let that slow them down.Kusal Mendis struck 22 off 16, Pathum Nissanka 14 off 12 and Avishka Fernando 17 off 12, as Sri Lanka kept a steady rate of around eight an over.Despite the early wickets, it could have been better too, had New Zealand held on to miscued reverse sweep off Perera when he was on just 15.Despite taking two excellent grabs to dismiss both Nissanka and Mendis, it was the chance they will likely look back on and regret.Mitchell Santner celebrates Kusal Mendis’ wicket•MARTY MELVILLE/AFP via Getty Images

Perera and Sri Lanka turn on the afterburnersDespite losing three wickets, Sri Lanka’s score of 85 after the first 10 overs constituted their best score at the halfway mark of an innings all series. But the 10 overs to follow would put that tally comfortably in the shade.Led by a belligerent Perera, and aided by some short boundaries at Nelson, Sri Lanka proceeded to plunder 133 runs off the final 10 overs – and that could have been considerably more if not for two excellent overs at the death from Mitchell and Duffy. Those two overs went for six each, but that Sri Lanka still ended up on a mammoth 218 speaks towards the damage done in the overs that preceded them – particularly devastating was a four-over period from overs 14-18 that brought 75 runs. Much of that was down to Perera, whose century came at a strike rate above 200 and included 13 fours and four sixes. While he initially targeted the boundaries behind square with a catalogue of sweeps, switch hits and outright slogs, by the end his knock was a true 360 exhibition – a monster six over cover to bring up his century emphatically ramming home the point. He was kept company by an equally combative Asalanka, who struck 46 off 24 during a 100-run fourth wicket stand that came off just 45 deliveries.Well prepared New Zealand come out firingRegardless of the match situation you can always count on New Zealand to come out with an effective plan, and their chase in Nelson was a prime example. Most sides would be overawed when hunting down a target of 219, but from the very first over of the chase New Zealand set the tone as Tim Robinson and Rachin Ravindra each took Chamidu Wickramasinghe for a boundary each. This was followed by a five-run over by Nuwan Thushara, but New Zealand made up for that by taking on Sri Lanka’s most effective seamer this series, Binura Fernando, for 18 off his opening over.Sixty-three runs were scored inside the powerplay, but the onslaught only continued afterwards. By the halfway point New Zealand had run up 108 runs and still had eight wickets in hand.Charith Asalanka struck in three consecutive overs•MARTY MELVILLE/AFP via Getty Images

Asalanka the unlikely heroWith Thushara and Binura being saved for the death overs and Theekshana having an off day, Asalanka was left with a conundrum through the middle overs. Was he going to rely on the green Wickramasinghe to handle the fifth bowler quota on his own, or would he bowl a few himself? He ended up opting for the latter, and it might just be what swung the game in Sri Lanka’s direction. In his first over the Lankan skipper removed Mark Chapman, before taking out Glenn Phillips in his second. But it was his third that brought the big fish, sliding one past Ravindra’s inside edge to dismiss the New Zealand opener for a 39-ball 69.Perhaps Asalanka overestimated his capabilities in bowling himself out, and was duly punished by Mitchell. But his breakthroughs meant New Zealand would be forced to score heavily off Sri Lanka’s frontline bowlers at the death.New Zealand can’t stick the landingDespite Asalanka’s strikes, Mitchell’s monster striking had brought the equation down to 51 from 30 with six wickets in hand.At that point it seemed like the hard work had been all but done, but New Zealand just couldn’t stick the landing. Hasaranga’s double-wicket 16th over did much to reverse to momentum that had swung New Zealand’s way through Mitchell’s onslaught. And then when Mitchell fell an over later, looking to take on Thushara, the writing seemed on the wall.Foulkes however ensured Sri Lanka were made to work for their win with some powerful hitting at the death, but the visitors just about managed to hold on.

Man Utd set TWO attendance records in historic WSL encounter with Women's Champions League holders Arsenal

Manchester United vs Arsenal has become one of the biggest fixtures in the WSL calendar since it was first played in 2019. The most recent meeting between the sides on Sunday afternoon was watched by a crowd in excess of 8,000 for the third year in a row at Leigh Sports Village.

  • A new Man Utd Women record

Manchester United proudly announced in the days leading up to Arsenal's visit to Leigh that 9,000 had been sold for the fixture between the ambitious Red Devils and the reigning European champions. On the day, that translated into 8,665 fans going through the turnstiles, meaning a new club record for a women's game at the stadium, the primary home of the team. Neither set of fans went home fully satisified, watching a 0-0 draw that saw plenty of midfield action and creativity, but few really clear chances.

    There's something about the Gunners

Every time United have hosted Arsenal at Leigh Sports Village in the last three seasons, more than 8,000 people have attended. Each one, in 2023-24 (8,312), 2024-25 (8,348) and now 2025-26 (8,665), has represented a new record for the club. Intriguingly, games that United have hosted at the stadium against other rivals like Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool are yet to break through the 8,000 barrier. A competitive rivalry against Arsenal has been brewing for a number of seasons, usually competing for the same places in the league table, adding to the appeal, while Gunners fans also deserve credit for typically travelling in bigger numbers than any other visiting side – even those that are geographically closer.

  • Man Utd vs Arsenal: Why it also marks a wider WSL record

With an official capacity of 12,000, Leigh Sports Village is the largest stadium in the WSL that is not also the primary home for a Premeir League team or a club's male counterpart – i.e not Old Trafford, Emirates Stadium, Stamford Bridge, etc. By welcoming 8,665 fans on Sunday, United broke their own record for the league's biggest attendance for a game played outside one of those men's football stadiums.

When are Man Utd Women next playing at Old Trafford?

As it stands, United have two WSL games this season planned for Old Trafford – against Aston Villa on November 8 and Manchester City on March 29. Last term, apathy off the back of a disappointing 2023-24 campaign saw just 8,761 people watch an opening fixture against West Ham at the famous stadium, nicknamed the Theatre of Dreams. But the attendance for a Manchester derby towards the end of 2024/25 later exceeded 31,000. United's overall club attendance record for a women's game stands at 43,615, also from a Manchester derby, in November 2023.

'He didn't play as well as he could' – Endrick's progression stalled at Real Madrid, admits Carlo Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti admits that Endrick’s development at Real Madrid stalled due to the presence of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, with the Italian tactician having to decide whether the teenage forward is deserving of a place in his Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup. Spots in that selection remain up for grabs less than a year out from the tournament itself.

  • Brazil squad: Household names left out

Endrick did not feature in Brazil’s latest squad, although a number of household names were rested for the final rounds of World Cup qualifying duty as the Selecao are already safely through to next summer’s finals.

Endrick has 14 senior caps for Brazil

He was last picked in March, with regular game time at club level proving hard to come by. Endrick started just three La Liga games for Real last season, when Ancelotti was his manager at Santiago Bernabeu.

  • Why Endrick's Brazil spot is under threat

The 19-year-old faces fierce competition for places in the Spanish capital, which is putting his place in the Brazil squad under threat. The South American nation also have other exciting youngsters emerging – such as Estevao Willian, who is now in the Premier League with Chelsea.

Selecao stars: Exciting talents emerge for Brazil

Ancelotti told when asked about the potential at his disposal: “I really like Estevao, he's young, he has personality, character. He started well in the Premier League, obviously Estevao, not only for this World Cup, but for the future of the national team, will be a very, very important player.

“Well, Endrick is like Estevao. He's a great talent. I think Estevao was lucky. The problem with young people who go to Europe is that they have a leading role here, but not much of a leading role there. I coached Endrick for a year and really liked him as a person and as a professional.

“And, obviously, he didn't play as well as he could, because Real Madrid had Rodrigo, Vini; competition in a big team is important, and that can affect a player's progression a little.”

Much bigger talent than Joseph: Leeds chasing deal for "nightmare" striker

Leeds United have only just announced the £12m capture of Sean Longstaff, but another midfield deal looks to be nearing to completion to complement the ex-Newcastle United man’s arrival.

Indeed, it is now being reported that Daniel Farke’s Premier League newcomers will welcome Anton Stach to the building imminently, with the versatile Hoffenheim presence going down as their sixth summer buy for around the £17.4m mark.

Longstaff and Stach might just be the start, however, before another wave of new faces joins very shortly, with attacking signings now looking to be a priority.

Leeds chasing deal for Premier League youngster

Away from Stach offering Leeds more options in midfield alongside the 27-year-old giant, the other signings through the door this summer have mostly been defensive, besides Lukas Nmecha.

Therefore, attack is surely the next part of the pitch due for a makeover, with Rodrigo Muniz reportedly still on the Leeds agenda, on top of new, exciting targets such as Igor Paxiao coming to the surface to gift the Whites more options on the left and right flanks.

Whilst Muniz is a buy that will appeal to Whites supporters everywhere, when assessing his weighty 17 goals in the Premier League, Leeds’ other pursuit of Marc Guiu might well raise some eyebrows.

Chelsea's Marc Guiu celebrates

Football journalist Graeme Bailey claims that Leeds could soon chase a loan deal for the Chelsea youngster to boost their options up top, having looked at him previously.

Whilst Guiu does come highly rated from Stamford Bridge, his lack of Premier League experience would worry those at Elland Road as they jump back up to the gruelling division.

Yet, the Spaniard might well go to be an even bigger talent than Mateo Joseph if he does move to West Yorkshire, which would unfortunately push his fellow compatriot down the Whites pecking order even more.

How Guiu could be a bigger talent than Joseph

Joseph must already know deep down that his Premier League minutes next season are going to be somewhat sparse, considering only 11 league starts were handed to him last season on the way to Farke and Co. sealing the title.

A promising three goals and three assists would come his way, but the 21-year-old hasn’t quite shown enough in these bursts of quality from the bench to suggest he should be pushing for more consistent first-team minutes. Whereas, Guiu at Chelsea might well fancy his chances at being a second-in-command to Joel Piroe, and even more, based on his blistering cameos in West London last campaign.

Amazingly, despite appearing 57 times less for Enzo Maresca’s outfit overall when weighed up next to the 21-year-old’s haul at Elland Road, Guiu finds himself on the exact same goal tally Joseph has next to his name at Leeds, with all six of those efforts also staggeringly coming about last season as Chelsea ran out convincing champions of the UEFA Conference League.

Of course, the quality of the opposition can be questioned here, but Guiu does look ready for more senior chances, with those six goals coming about from just four starts, meaning he’s a far more lethal and composed finisher from limited chances than his Whites counterpart.

With two goals under his belt in the senior ranks at Barcelona, too, the 19-year-old would surely go on to enhance and elevate his game surrounded by the likes of Piroe as a hungry asset wanting to learn more, as opposed to Joseph, who has made his intentions clear on his desire to move on from West Yorkshire.

Once labelled as a “nightmare for centre-backs” to contain by football talent scout Jacek Kulig off the back of his high-energy game, Guiu might well be the perfect impact bench option for Farke to call upon next season, away from landing a more seasoned head such as Muniz.

Marc Guiu

With all these thrilling new buys in the offing, there might not be a place for Joseph at Leeds very soon, as fresh blood is potentially preferred over the reserve striker.

Rangers target meets Martin and passes Ibrox medical but now may not sign

After officially unveiling the arrival of Nasser Djiga, Glasgow Rangers are looking to sign yet another Ibrox transfer target, who has already met Russell Martin and passed his medical.

Thelwell "delighted" to sign Djiga for Rangers

As first summers go, Kevin Thelwell has certainly enjoyed an impressive start to life at Ibrox. After hiring Martin to finally end Rangers’ managerial search, the new Gers sporting director instantly turned his attention towards the transfer market and has since welcomed as many as seven fresh faces in Scotland.

With five of the seven new faces arriving from English football, Thelwell’s preference has been made clear very early on in his Rangers tenure.

After welcoming yet another talent from the Premier League in the form of Djiga, the sporting director told Rangers’ official website: “We are delighted to bring Nasser to the club on a season-long loan.

“He is a player with the necessary physical and mental profile to flourish both domestically and in Europe, and we look forward to seeing his development under Russell and his coaching staff.”

The defender, himself, was also delighted to put pen to paper on his loan move to Scotland, saying: “I am very happy to join Rangers, it is one of the biggest clubs in Scotland and in Europe. I will try to give everything, to play every game and I think it is the best team for me. I just want to play and enjoy football with the team.”

Thelwell, the 49ers and Rangers have not stopped there, however. Reports are now suggesting that they want to sign a sixth player from English football after he completed his medical.

Gassama completes Rangers medical but may not seal Ibrox move

As reported by The Star’s Joe Crann, Djeidi Gassama has now completed his Rangers medical and met Martin and the Gers players ahead of joining the Scottish Premiership giants. Whilst he isn’t quite a Rangers player just yet, the Sheffield Wednesday winger has been pictured in the Gers’ training gear and those at Ibrox are just waiting on one final signature after reaching an agreement.

That may not come, though, with updates since saying Gassama’s move to Rangers is now facing collapse with those at Hillsborough ready to pull the plug on a deal.

As analyst John Walker pointed out, Rangers have every reason to be excited by the potential prospect of Gassama’s arrival. The winger scored eight goals and assisted one more in all competitions for Sheffield Wednesday last season to show the potential that Danny Rohl noticed in 2023.

The Owls boss told reporters after handing Gassama his first start: “I think with Gass it was his first start in the XI, and he has so much potential. He has to improve with his load so he can do it for 90 minutes, but that’s a normal process if you don’t play much in the past.

Better signing than Aasgaard: Rangers exploring move for "incredible" star

With Russell Martin having already made six summer signings so far, Rangers are now targeting an “incredible” talent on loan.
