Wolves In Talks To Sign ‘Dangerous’ £14m land £13m ace in "dangerous" upgrade

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in Sevilla forward Lucas Ocampos, as Julen Lopetegui aims to bolster his side on a budget this summer.

The Spaniard must address the Old Gold’s struggles in the final third of this transfer window after his side ended the season as the Premier League’s lowest scorers with limited creativity in attack.

With Ocampos linked, Molineux could see an injection of attacking prowess added to the ranks, at a price that would not damage the clubs’ finances.

As reported by The Guardian earlier this week, Wolves are reportedly ‘in talks’ to sign the 28-year-old winger from Sevilla, in a deal worth €15m (£13m).

Earlier this month, the Telegraph confirmed Lopetegui’s commitment to the Midlands side, adding that the club will ‘intend to pay’ around £8m-£15m for new recruits this summer to remain within Financial Fair Play (FFP) boundaries.

In Ocampos, the Spaniard could land himself a financially friendly asset as well as an experienced player that can add an abundance of threat on the flanks.

What could Lucas Ocampos offer to Wolves?

Hailed as “dangerous” by members of the media, the 28-year-old could provide a new outlet to the right flank at Molineux, following the departure of Adama Traore.

After a total of five years employed by Wolves, the Spaniard will leave as a free agent this summer, having marked himself as one of the Premier League’s most feared players to challenge 1v1.

Averaging 2.95 successful take-ons per 90 over the past year, the 27-year-old ranks in the top 7% of players in his position in Europe in this area, as per FBref, showing the presence Wolves will be without next term.

Despite possessing such a threatening skillset, the £46k-per-week attacker only registered 25 goals and assists in a total 157 appearances at Molineux, conveying that at a time of need his exploits on the flank came to little avail.

With just 31 goals in 38 games, individual expeditions won't cut it next season for Lopetegui, who requires a genuine menace in attack to break Wolves free of their goal-scoring woes.

As per Sofascore, Sevilla’s Ocampos averaged 1.6 shots per game in La Liga this season, as well as averaging 4.95 touches in the attacking penalty area per 90, significantly more than Traore who registered 3.37 per 90, via FBref.

Similarly to the Spaniard who received an average of 9.39 progressive passes per 90, the Argentine received 8.73 per 90, showing the positions he can create just as Traore has for Lopetegui’s side.

Most prominently for Wolves is the added threat on goal that the 28-year-old could bring, highlighted by his 0.35 xG (expected goals) per 90 in La Liga, incomparable to the club’s departing star who averaged just 0.08 xG, as per FBref.

Lopetegui could ease the Spaniard’s departure by signing Ocampos, who could prove to be an upgraded asset to the front line at Molineux.

Aston Villa: Exciting "new" transfer "priority" emerges after Pau Torres

Aston Villa are set to target Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT.

Aston Villa transfer news – what is the latest with Samuel Chukwueze?

The Midlands side are one of many clubs across both the Premier League and across Europe that hold an interest in the wideman, with Unai Emery looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the Villains return to continental football for the first time in over a decade.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery.

According to reports, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United are all interested in bringing in the Nigerian attacker to England.

The 24-year-old was part of two famous Villarreal sides that first beat United in the 2020/21 Europa League final, and then the following year was part of the Yellow Submarine side that reached a Champions League semi-final.

Chukwueze has made over 200 appearances across his Villarreal career, but has just 12 months remaining on his current contract and therefore the Spanish side may be forced to lower their asking price to not lose out on him for free.

What has Dean Jones got to say about Aston Villa and Samuel Chukwueze?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT regarding Chukwueze, he said: “AC Milan have been exploring a deal for Samuel Chukwueze, but they are worried about him choosing a move to the Premier League instead. It’s interesting because Aston Villa want a wide attacker and have been linked with him a few times and this is the area of recruitment they are currently looking closely at.

Finding a new winger is considered the new priority for Emery after reaching a deal for Pau Torres because he wants a fresh dynamic to give his attack a new edge.

Villa have also been looking at Harvey Barnes and Brennan Johnson, so this is going to be interesting to see exactly how they narrow down the profile of the player they want and need. The ability to be adaptable is definitely something important, that’s what I keep being told.

So, what is all the fuss about Samuel Chukwueze?

With 13 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, it's safe to say that the attacker deserves all the attention he is currently getting, having played a massive part in getting his side a place in Europe.

This has led to him being rightly hailed as a "beast" by members of the media.

samuel-chukwueze-transfer-news-liverpool-premier-league

Chukwueze would be a similar option to Leon Bailey for Villa, but he plays mainly on the opposite side to the Jamaican, which could lead to one of the most dangerous winger duos in the league should both stay fit and form chemistry together. One of the 24-year-old's biggest strengths, like Bailey, is his dribbling ability, with his 5.12 progressive carries putting him in the top 9% of all forwards across Europe's top five leagues. This is backed up by the fact that he has been hailed as a "crazy dribbler" and even upstaged Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior, after his masterclass performance against Real Madrid.

Indeed, having signed Youri Tielemans and with Pau Torres seemingly on the way, things are certainly looking up for Aston Villa as Emery continues to work his magic on the transfer front.

Liverpool: "Truly" surprising Liverpool rumour has reporter stunned

Liverpool bringing in Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde this summer 'would truly be a surprise' in the transfer window, according to journalist Dean Jones.

What's the latest transfer news involving Federico Valverde?

One report from Spain has indicated that Liverpool want to try and land Real Madrid star Valverde this summer and claim that the Reds saw a bid of £69 million turned down for his services.

Liverpool are set to return with a second bid valued at around £77 million for the Uruguay international, with Jurgen Klopp adamant in his quest not to give up on a potential deal for the £133k-a-week ace.

As per The Daily Mail, Thiago Alcantara may be allowed to leave Anfield this window amid interest from Saudi Arabia, which could free up a spot for Liverpool to strengthen their engine room even further before 2023/23 kicks into competitive action.

Change has engulfed the Reds' midfield since last term, as Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner have all moved on to new pastures. On the other hand, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have entered the building as part of a squad revamp from Brighton & Hove Albion and RB Leipzig, respectively.

Spanish outlet Defensa Central via The Chelsea Chronicle have thrown a spanner in the works regarding Liverpool's apparent interest in Valverde, indicating that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is very keen on the idea of bringing Valverde to Stamford Bridge despite Real Madrid's reluctance to sell the versatile star.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Jones has signalled that he would be shocked if Valverde was to sign for Liverpool this summer; nevertheless, he doesn't think it completely outwith the realms of possibility.

Jones said: "Yeah, as I say, Liverpool are simply the best at surprising us in the transfer window, so anything could happen. This would truly be a surprise if they could take Valverde away from Real Madrid. One of their most consistent, reliable options in that squad."

How good is Federico Valverde and why do Liverpool want to sign him?

Valverde is an excellent midfielder that possesses versatility and an incredible capacity to cover ground, making him someone who would fit Klopp's high-octane system at Anfield if a sensational deal was to arise.

In 2022/23, the 24-year-old was in fine form for Real Madrid, registering 12 goals and seven assists in 56 appearances across all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.

Federico Valverde

As per WhoScored, Valverde was also Real Madrid's fourth-most consistent performer during 2022/23 behind Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema, earning an average match rating of 7.08/10 for his efforts on the pitch.

Being a crucial part of Real Madrid's midfield arsenal, Valverde has a lot of distinguishable qualities that many sides in world football would envy, with his ability to drive forward from the middle of the part being one of his main attributes.

Evidenced by FBRef, the Uruguay international was able to demonstrate his effectiveness in offensive passages of play, successfully performing 124 shot-creating actions combining his involvement in La Liga and the Champions League.

Liverpool are keen to find another piece to their midfield jigsaw and Valverde would be a statement signing if Klopp was able to convince him to swap the sunny climbs of the Spanish capital in favour of a switch to Merseyside.

Everton Close To Agreeing Fee To Sign 19-Year-Old Forward

Everton appear to be close to landing a new forward this summer, with reports suggesting that a €22m fee could soon be agreed with Leeds United for Wilfried Gnonto.

How many goals has Wilfried Gnonto scored for Leeds?

The 19-year-old has only been with Leeds for one season, but has already made quite the impression for the club and in the Premier League. Despite his age, he was given the opportunity to feature for them on 24 occasions in the top flight, and became one of their most established options in attack.

That led to the Italy international bagging two goals and four assists – leading to his second-best-ever goal contribution rate over the course of his career so far. It meant that he ended the season with a 0.40 goal or assist per 90 rate. [FBref]

Gnonto burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old in Switzerland with FC Zurich and started three times for them in the league that campaign – managing one goal and three assists. He then hit a double-digit goal contribution tally with the side for the first time in the 2021/22 season. That led to his move to England and to Leeds, and he has continued to shine even in the top flight.

Are Everton signing Wilfried Gnonto?

Everton appear to be closing in on a move for free agent Ashley Young as their first summer signing, with the 38-year-old set to make the move to Merseyside after leaving Aston Villa.

Gnonto and Young came up against each other last season at Villa Park, with Gary Neville hailing the forward for his display against the experienced full-back, and it looks as if they could soon be teammates.

With the Whites now relegated back down to the Championship though, there are teams that are well prepared to keep Gnonto in the top tier. One of those sides is Everton, with those at Goodison Park in contact over a potential transfer already it seems, so to have Aston Villa, with the Villains also considering a move to try and land the Italian in a deal.

wilfried-gnonto-transfer-gossip-everton-leeds-united-tarkowski

Now, it seems that things are escalating in terms of Gnonto moving to Merseyside. According to a report from Sport Italia via Leeds United News, the striker is "very close" to switching to Everton and staying in the Premier League. A fee mentioned between the two clubs is thought to be around €22m (£18.8m) – and it seems as if it may just be a matter of time until a move goes through.

Once terms have been reached with the teenager, it looks like everything could get the green light between the sides and a transfer could be completed. Villa have not hit the asking price yet – and that leaves the Toffees clear to get a transfer done this window.

Despite still being a teenager, Gnonto has already received high praise from those who have watched him play for Leeds. Football talent scout Jacek Kulig stated that the striker has "pace" and "energy" among other things and finished by saying that the Italian is a "nightmare for defenders".

The 19-year-old has already proven that he can be a force to be reckoned with in England – and if Everton do manage to land him this summer, it could really improve their forward line ahead of the 2023/24 season in both the short and long run.

Aston Villa £120k p/w Ace Is "Open-Minded" Over His Future

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez is 'open-minded' over his future this summer as speculation continues to grow over whether he will stay or leave, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Is Emi Martinez leaving Aston Villa?

According to talkSPORT last month, Martinez is on Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino's radar this summer, as the outlet stated on their Twitter account: "BREAKING: CFC are open to offers for both Kepa Arrizabalaga & Edouard Mendy. Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring in a new number one with Inter Milan's Andre Onana and AVFC’s Emi Martinez on his radar. – talkSPORT sources understand."

Manchester United were said to be readying an offer for Martinez as a potential replacement for David De Gea and had been impressed by his 'elite mentality' and performances across the last three years, as per Football Insider.

Nevertheless, the Red Devils look to have turned their attention towards Inter Milan stopper Andre Onana and have reached a verbal agreement to sanction a deal for the Cameroon international. Journalist Rudy Galetti also revealed his news on Twitter, saying: “Andre Onana, the details: Man Utd and Inter already reached a verbal agreement about the transfer fee: £42m+£5m add-ons; new contacts expected in the next 24/48h to discuss the details and complete the move. The Cameroon GK is ready to join MUFC.”

Last term, Argentina international Martinez enjoyed a productive season for Aston Villa, keeping 13 clean sheets in 37 appearances across all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.

Capology understand that the former Arsenal stopper earns around £120,000 per week on a contract that runs until June 2027.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Jones thinks that Aston Villa could be tempted to cash in on Martinez in light of his exploits at the World Cup with his native Argentina.

Jones stated: "I don't think Martinez has been desperate to leave Aston Villa. I think it's more that he's open-minded about if the possibilities are going to come for him in his career, then it might come down at a time when he is a World Cup winner and there might have been a temptation for Aston Villa to cash at a moment like that, because of what his value would be on the market."

What else has happened or could happen at Aston Villa this window?

Aston Villa have been hard at work this summer as they prepare for Europa Conference League involvement in 2023/24 and Unai Emery has already brought in two players in the form of Youri Tielemans and Pau Torres from Leicester City and Villarreal, respectively.

L'Equipe via The Daily Express claim that more arrivals could be on the way, stating that the Villans have submitted an 'opening proposal' to Bayer Leverkusen in an attempt to bring France international Moussa Diaby to Villa Park.

One report in Spain has suggested that Joao Felix is on the radar of Aston Villa; however, he is not keen to join a club that aren't involved in the Champions League, making a move to Paris Saint-Germain a more appealing transfer for the Portugal international.

Emery will surely have a few more tricks left up his sleeve as the Spaniard looks to work his magic once again this season and tries to help his side rise up the Premier League standings.

£85k-p/w Ace Risks Repeating Scamacca Howler At West Ham

West Ham United have plenty of money to play with in the remaining weeks of the transfer window after landing £105m through the sale of Declan Rice.

However, with just three weeks to go until the new Premier League season begins, it appears that the Irons may be getting desperate in their search for new recruits.

Who are West Ham United's strikers?

While a midfield replacement for Rice is a priority for Moyes, West Ham could also do with strengthening in various other positions, not least up front.

United spent £35.5m to sign Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo last summer, but the Italian striker failed to make the impact expected of him in his debut campaign at the London Stadium.

Other than Scamacca, David Moyes has just Danny Ings, Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma to call upon in attack – hardly the most prolific list of goalscorers.

A number of potential options have emerged for West Ham in the striking department, with AC Milan striker Divock Origi the latest on the list.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Sport Witness, the club have held talks with the Italian side over a possible deal.

How many goals has Divock Origi scored?

Origi joined Serie A giants Milan on a free transfer last year after bringing an end to his seven-season stay at Liverpool, with whom he became a fan favourite.

The Belgium international had a knack of scoring important goals, but a return of 22 from 107 Premier League appearances was hardly much to shout about.

That has been a similar story at the San Siro, having netted only twice – while assisting another – in 27 league appearances for Milan. Origi's slow start led to him being labelled Serie A's worst signing last season by Italian journalist Alvise Cagnazzo.

A change of surroundings has not exactly led to a change of fortunes for Origi, and it begs the question of exactly why Moyes' men would want to bring him on board.

Gianluca Scamacca

Indeed, with 0.15 non-penalty goals per 90 minutes over the past year, Origi ranks in the bottom 10% of all forwards across Europe's top five leagues, as per FBref. Scamacca does not fare much better in that regard, mind, as he is in the bottom 17% with 0.24 non-penalty goals per 90.

Moyes would surely be better off putting his faith in Scamacca, who was often unfairly left out of the side at times last season, as the former Sassuolo ace not only scores at a better rate than Origi (0.29 v 0.18 goals per 90 respectively), but he also comes out on top in various other metrics.

That includes goals per shot (0.10 v 0.07), aerial duels won (44.7% v 30.6%) and tackles and interceptions per 90 combined (1.36 v 0.88) – an increasingly important trait for a forward – while they are pretty much identical in terms of pass-completion percentage (66.7 for Scamacca; 66.3 for Origi).

Previously described as a "terrible" player by football reporter Leigh Curtis, it is difficult to see how 28-year-old Origi – on wages of £85,000 a week, according to Capology – can improve West Ham's attack.

Instead, Moyes would be better off biding his time in search of the right man, even if that means taking his search right down to the wire.

Southampton Chasing 25-Year-Old EFL Ace This Window

Southampton are continuing to track Hamza Choudhury, although no official bid has yet been made, as reported by Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett.

How many games has Hamza Choudhury played?

The Leicester City man spent the 2022/23 season out on loan with Watford in the Championship, with gametime hard to come by with the Foxes. As his parent club struggled in the Premier League, the midfielder went on to play in 36 second tier outings for the Hornets though and was a key player for them as they clawed their way into the top half of the division.

His overall stats made for good reading too. He attempted 108 tackles in total, ranking him fifth in that area in the entire league, but also had 67 tackles won – which also ranked him as fifth in those standings. It shows that he isn't afraid to get stuck in and doesn't do it needlessly either, winning most of the tackles he does place.

Leicester have previously utilised him in the top flight too, with the Englishman having made 53 appearances for them in the Premier League over the years. However, only 29 of those have been actual starts and it means that he is still to establish himself as a regular in their first-team picture. When you consider that he was also sent out on a short-term basis last year, it shows that he currently sits down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium, but is a player with high level experience.

Are Southampton signing Hamza Choudhury?

With the Foxes now in the Championship, there could be more opportunities for the 25-year-old to feature, but they may not come with Leicester. That's because, as reported by Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett, Southampton still have a keen interest in the midfielder and their boss Russell Martin is an "admirer" of the tough tackling ace.

It means that he is likely to explore the possibility of a deal but that may not be easy, with the Foxes also now wanting to keep Choudhury at the club. It seems as though they may offer the player a fresh deal and could play him a lot more – so if a bid does go in, he may have a choice to make over his future club.

Southampton manager Russell Martin.

Choudhury has proven his ability at Championship level, which may be why there is now a scramble to sign and keep him. His stats present him as one of the most solid options in his position at this level and his ability to grind away and break up attacks in the middle of the field is superb.

Journalist Josh Bunting labelled him as "excellent" for his part in a Watford goal during the course of the last campaign, showing that he is a solid option in the second tier. If Southampton do manage to prise him away then, it will be another boost for their squad in their bid for promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Leeds United: Big Joel Piroe update emerges with Leicester & Saints

Leeds United are trying to complete the signing for Joel Piroe from Swansea City, but are facing a number of obstacles according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The striker would be a "really good signing" by Leeds according to the journalist.

What is the latest Joel Piroe news?

Swansea are preparing for offers for the forward this upcoming month.

According to reports from Football Insider, all three recently relegated sides are interested in the 23-year-old this summer, however the Welsh side aren't in a rush to sell the forward despite him having just 12 months remaining on his contract at the Swansea.com Stadium, with the club asking for £15-20m to let him go this summer.

Leeds are hoping to bring in the striker to replace Spaniard Rodrigo, who was the Yorkshire clubs top scorer last campaign with 11 goals, and Piroe is seen as the ideal replacement due to being versatile like the Spaniard and being able to play both as a striker and an attacking midfielder.

joel-piroe-leeds-united-transfer-news-championship

The Dutch striker impressed in the Championship last season, scoring 20 and assisting two in 45 games and receiving praise from former manager Russel Martin, who stated after Piroe's winner against Bristol City "I thought Joel was outstanding. I thought he took his goal brilliantly, and he looked a real threat all night, He was a real threat and he worked so hard out of possession, he was absolutely finished at the end when we took him off. It is exciting for us to see what he can go on and achieve this season.”

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jacobs revealed that Leeds aren't as interested compared to Southampton, Leicester City and OGC Nice: "He could be a really good signing. He is obviously playing in pre-season at the moment and Swansea's asking price is relatively high. It's going to be difficult for anybody to pull off a deal at value. At the moment, I think that Leeds are not necessarily the one to watch compared to the likes of Leicester and Southampton, who have looked. Away from English football, there's been some interest from Nice as well. But nothing is necessarily imminent at this point."

Who will Leeds sign this summer?

Leeds are still looking to make additions this window.

The club have already signed Ethan Ampadu and Karl Darlow this window from Chelsea and Newcastle United respectively. The side are also looking at a potential move for Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara, with the club nearing an agreement with the Scottish side for £5m according to Football Insider. The midfielder was a crucial part of the Rangers side for a number of seasons however saw his game time diminish under new boss Michael Beale. The club are also interested in Liverpool defender Nat Phillips according to reports. The deal is set to cost around £10m for a player Jurgen Klopp described as a "monster in the air".

Leeds United forwardWilfried Gnonto.

A number of players could still depart Elland Road this summer as well. Italian forward Wilfried Gnonto has already been the subject of a rejected bid worth £15m from Everton, whilst Crystal Palace and Aston Villa hold an interest in the forward. According to Dean Jones, the forward wants to leave this summer and could become "restless" if he isn't sold by the clubs first game of the season. Midfielder Tyler Adams is another who has informed manager Daniel Farke of his desire to leave this summer in order to continue playing at the highest level, with interest from Villa and West Ham United turning the injured players head.

Chelsea Have "Agreed" Internal Deal For £5k-p/w "Giant"

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has “agreed” a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge but there are still some final details to complete, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

When did Levi Colwill join Chelsea?

Colwill is an academy product in SW6 having progressed his way up through the various youth ranks, but after never making a senior appearance, he’s had two season-long development loans throughout his career, the first being at Huddersfield Town and the most recent which was last term at Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Blues centre-back still has another two years remaining on his contract in the capital, and having majorly impressed during his spell at The Amex, Roberto De Zerbi’s side had been looking to take him back on a permanent basis, alongside Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Read The Latest Chelsea Transfer News HERE…

Speaking after the Blues’ 4-3 Summer Series victory over the Seagulls, Mauricio Pochettino was asked about the 20-year-old’s future amid outside attention, to which he replied:

“He's our player and he's going to continue with us. I am happy with him, his performance was good today, better than what I expected because it's only the first game with us after the season in Brighton. But I think he can be one of the greatest centre-backs in England."

Is Levi Colwill signing a new contract?

Taking to Twitter, Ornstein revealed that Chelsea and Colwill have reached an agreement over fresh terms which will keep him at the club for the foreseeable future once signed. He wrote:

“Chelsea have agreed a new six-year contract with Levi Colwill. Deal has yet to be signed but is now in place + commits 20yo left-sided centre-back to Stamford Bridge until at least 2029. Seen as having [a] massive role for club & country.”

Brighton and Hove Albion's loan defender Levi Colwill.

Chelsea clearly wanted to move quickly to secure the services of Colwill with Brighton and Liverpool both hot on his tail, and with an announcement confirming his future now surely just a matter of time away, Pochettino will know how much of a massive coup it is that his starlet is staying.

The England youth international, who currently pockets £5k-per-week and will get a massive boost on that now, averaged 2.6 aerial wins and 2.2 clearances per top-flight game last season at Brighton, via WhoScored, so could be a real rock at the heart of the boss’ backline should he be given a chance to play on a regular basis moving forward.

The Blues’ 6 foot 1 “giant”, as described by talent scout Jacek Kulig, is also capable of creating chances for his teammates having recorded three assists across all competitions during his time on the south coast, so is a real impact maker at both ends of the pitch.

Finally, Colwill can operate out wide at left-back and slightly higher up on the left side of the midfield alongside his usual role at centre-back so he would provide the manager with plenty of versatility should any unexpected injuries or system changes occur, and following his top performances on the road during the previous campaign, he more than deserves a chance to prove himself in the senior fold during the new campaign.

Transfer exit for Nottingham Forest target is "very plausible"

There has been a lot of talk about ins and outs regarding the goalkeeping department at Manchester United. One man who could still be moved on, according to Dean Jones when he spoke to GIVEMESPORT, is Dean Henderson.

Could a City Ground return be on the cards?

At one point in his career, there seemed to be the perfect route to the top for Dean Henderson. As David de Gea got older and his form declined, Henderson could have presented with the golden opportunity of starting in goal for Manchester United.

For one reason or another, it didn’t work out for the former Shrewsbury Town man and the Red Devils’ buying Andre Onana from Inter Milan tells you all you need to know really.

Henderson didn’t enjoy a perfect loan spell at Nottingham Forest last year either due to both injury and the opportunity arising for them to sign three-time Champions League winner Keylor Navas for the remainder of the season.

The Independent are reporting that he could return to the City Ground on a loan deal with an option to buy as he battles to establish himself as a starting shot-stopper in the best league in the world.

Matt Turner has just been bought by Forest from Arsenal for a fee in the region of £7 million as the USMNT number one himself goes in search of regular minutes.

Young academy graduate George Shelvey has been the starter in pre-season showing that the club were and still are keen on spending in that position. Turner and Henderson would provide strong competition for each other as the Reds attempt to remain in the English top-flight once again.

What is Dean Jones' update?

“Suzuki not heading to Old Trafford is an interesting one in terms of how United now look at their backup situation between the sticks.

“People might expect Henderson to take on that role at face value, but I have heard it won’t be that easy and that a transfer this month for him is still very plausible. Kovar won’t come into the frame to be that man, so I expect United to sign another goalkeeper in this window.

“Of course, they still have Heaton, and he has certainly not had a bad pre-season in terms of showing the club he is worth having around for this season.”

Who else could pursue Henderson?

When it comes to teams rivalling Nottingham Forest for Dean Henderson’s signature, the reports are very thin on the ground. It would seem that the majority of Premier League teams are content with their options in the goal as well as maybe not wanting to do business with Manchester United.

The latter point becomes apparent as reports emerge of the Red Devils being tentative to deal with Forest at the time of writing. This line in the Mirror is very damming: “Forest are keen to put the England international through a rigorous medical, which United fear could aggravate his injury, and as a result won't sanction it, reports The Sun.”

Henderson suffered a tear in this thigh back in January and so Steve Cooper’s side are clearly keen to ensure that it won’t be a recurring issue if they are to spend a sizable fee on the Manchester United goalkeeper.
