The lure of perfecting his cover drive has persuaded Paul Collingwood to delay retirement and sign a new, one-year contract with Durham at the age of 38.Collingwood, who captained Durham to an unexpected Championship triumph last season and continues to lead the four-day side, joked earlier this year that he had finally learned how to play a shot at odds with his favoured leg-side nurdling but his bowling in limited-overs cricket has also been evergreen, leading the wicket-taker’s list for his county.Durham will play Yorkshire this week in the quarter-finals of the Royal London Cup, in which the former England captain has made 344 runs at 68.80, to go with 10 wickets and an economy of less than four runs per over. He has also made 620 runs in the Championship, where Durham find themselves in the bottom two and facing a fight to avoid relegation from Division One, a position similar to when Collingwood took the captaincy in 2012.Collingwood had taken the first steps towards a coaching career over the winter, helping Scotland qualify for the 2015 World Cup and joining England on their Caribbean tour and at the World T20. He was also touted for a role in the new set-up under Peter Moores.”I had presumed this was going to be my last season but I’m really enjoying my cricket and feel as though I’m still contributing to the team,” Collingwood said. “You’re a long time retired and I’ve still got ambitions to take this team forward. It really is a special group of guys to be involved with and I don’t want to give that up too early.”We’ve got a lot to play for in the back end of the season with the quarter-finals and trying to avoid relegation, which would be a huge achievement. There is a bigger picture as well which is about having another year to continue to create a culture that will hopefully be around for another five to ten years. I’m certain that the backbone of this side, with the youngsters coming through, will be strong for years to come.”Having won the title with a young, largely homegrown side in 2013, Durham have struggled with a restricted budget and injuries to their formidable bowling attack, most significantly Graham Onions. They are currently eighth in Division One, having played a game less than Lancashire in seventh, and will hope for a similar run to two years ago, when they won five of their last six games after Collingwood replaced Phil Mustard as captain.Durham’s head coach, Jon Lewis, added: “Everyone at the club is delighted that Paul will be continuing his career. His contribution as a player, leader and character in the dressing room is difficult to measure. It is a big lift for everyone knowing that he will be with us next year”

وقال سيد عبد الحفيظ في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “ام بي سي مصر”: “لا أعرف ماذا سيكون في الغد، والأهلي مسؤولية كبيرة جدًا، شرف لأي أحد أنه يمثل النادي الأهلي في أي منصب كان وتحت أمر النادي في أي وقت”.

وتابع: “راض جدًا بفترة عملي في النادي، لو ربنا أراد أن أكون متواجداً فهذا شيء يسعدني، لو لم أكن متواجداً فسأكون فخوراً بفترتي مع الأهلي”.

وأردف: “أميل بعض الشيء في الفترة المقبلة أن يكون لي فكر مختلف عن فترتي الماضية، ولا أميل للعمل في الجانب الإعلامي والظهور بشكل يومي في برنامج رغم أنني تلقيت عروضا وأشكر كل من قدم لي عروض، أميل للظهور الإعلامي في مناسبات أو بطولات معينة”.

وعن شعوره بعد هدف محمد المنعم في مرمى الوداد؟، أردف: “توجد ثلاثة أو أربعة أشياء تُغيّر من مزاجي، أخر عشرة دقائق في نهائي إفريقيا بين الأهلي والزمالك، وآخر ربع ساعة في مباراة الوداد، والأفلام القديمة، وتصريحات محمد مجدي أفشة، أحبه جدًا لأنه على فطرته”.

وحول اللاعب الذي حزن على رحيله من الأهلي؟، أجاب: “لا أحزن على أحد كل واحد اختار طريقه، ولما أحزن على أحد لم يحزن على نفسه؟ هذا قراره”.

وأشار: “كهربا قلبه أبيض جدًا وصنع معنا الفارق جدًا في الموسم الماضي وكان له تأثير في كل البطولات المشاركين فيها، وكانت لا توجد مشكلة بيني وبينه في بدايته مع الأهلي”

وبسؤاله عن لماذا لم تحضر حفلة النادي الأهلي؟، أوضح: “أحتفظ بالسبب لي، ومن ثوابت الأهلي اختلافك في المواقف يكون اختلاف أخوي”.

واختتم: “إمام عاشور هو لاعب في الأهلي الآن، وننتظر منه أكثر وأكثر (وأكيد الواد ده في حاجة لله وبار بوالديه لأنه انضم للأهلي)”.

But Rees finished the penultimate day 72 not out as Glamorgan reached 150 for 3, with a lead of 92 runs, at stumps. Glamorgan’s rookie spinner Kieran Bull was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 for 62.Kent, resuming on their overnight score of 205 for 4 and still trailing by 124 on first innings, saw their best hope of adding impetus into the game perish within 20 minutes when Darren Stevens departed for 30. In aiming an uppercut over the slips against the second new ball, Stevens only succeeded in edging a third catch through to Glamorgan’s keeper-captain Mark Wallace.It proved Kent’s only loss of the session as the hosts added 108 in the morning session once Northeast and Sam Billings joined forces. Pakistan have a chance of shooting up the ICC Test rankings if they seal a series win against Australia, but for their head coach Waqar Younis, rankings are less important than making his team a more consistent unit.”To come in top three is a big thing but for me bringing consistency is much more important,” Waqar said during Pakistan’s training session in Abu Dhabi. “Because we have always been unpredictable, sometimes up and then down, so we need to give consistent performances. It is necessary that if we give a performance then we must have a follow-through so that people have confidence in us as a side. We have proved in the first Test that we have got the talent and the potential so if we apply ourselves then results will come.”In the last 20 years, Pakistan have never won a series against Australia. If they beat them 2-0, Pakistan will leapfrog England, Sri Lanka and India into third place in the ICC Test rankings, and a 1-0 win will take them to fourth. Australia have already lost their chance of regaining the No. 1 ranking from South Africa.Waqar said Pakistan were targeting a 2-0 scoreline, but warned that Australia would be smarting from their defeat in Dubai and desperate to hit back.”The message is simple – don’t give up, the series is not finished, there is a second Test and we have to win the second Test,” he said. “You have to work hard consistently every day to win the series. We have the potential, the spinners did well, and the best thing is that new players are emerging and are taking more responsibility.”But it’s a long way to go, the second Test will be tough. We all know that they are very positive about their cricket and they feel hurt and they can bounce back. So we have to be sensible and be very well prepared.”Waqar said he wasn’t surprised by the performance of Pakistan’s bowlers in Dubai, since he had observed how Australia played while losing to Pakistan A in their four-day warm-up match in Sharjah. Before the Test he had said he had spotted Australia’s weaknesses and was looking to exploit them.”I was expecting [the success of Pakistan’s bowlers], especially after watching the Australians play the four day game,” he said. “We saw the weaknesses, we saw that spin can cause some problems for them, even the faster bowlers did well. Rahat [Ali] bowled well and so did Imran [Khan], even though he was playing his first Test. We had the feeling that if we keep putting the pressure on we can get the best out of our lot.”Waqar took over as head coach before the Sri Lanka tour in August. There, they lost the Test series 2-0 and lost the ODIs by a 2-1 margin. Going into the Test series, Pakistan had lost all three ODIs and the solitary T20 against Australia.Waqar said the Dubai win was a sign the players and the new team management were slowly beginning to gel and understand their roles.”It’s tough to answer this but maybe people are realising more responsibility and it [Sri Lanka] was our first tour as management, so we were still trying to understand each other,” Waqar said. “I will not say that we lost because of that, but we should have won that series as well, but it takes little bit of time to understand and once you do it will surely pay off.”The whole idea was that if we have got the skills and the potential then it’s a matter of applying ourselves and we did that in the first Test and I am sure and hopeful that the boys will be more determined to apply more. There is always room for improvement and we need to do that in every session, every match. It’s a pure test against Australia, they really feel proud of their cricket and beating them is always fun.”

– Eles estão estão com um interino, não sabemos como eles vão vir, temos que nos preparar para todas as possibilidades. Uma equipe mais retrancada ou que repita o padrão recente, eles têm essa ideia do jogo desde o início do ano, do Diniz, de posse de bola. O Carille sempre prepara a equipe para todas as circunstâncias, temos que manter nossa maneira de jogar e fazer o melhor.

Por fim, Cássio comentou o desejo de ultrapassar Ronaldo como o goleiro com mais jogos pelo Timão. O atual arqueiro tem 426 jogos, enquanto Giovanelli possui 602 partidas pelo clube.

– Me sinto feliz aqui no Corinthians, mas não sei se vou ficar para sempre…Uma das minas metas é bater recordes no clube, óbvio que quero bater o recorde do Ronaldo. Minha admiração por ele é enorme, mas não quero fazer comparações entre eu e ele – concluiu.
