Tests are a very different story, but their Twenty20 form has given the group a spark.There was a distinct sense of déjà vu after Monday’s game; again there was a big crowd of Pakistan fans, again Pakistan scored around the 160 mark and again Australia’s batsmen were tied down and couldn’t lift their tempo for a successful chase. The last pair was left needing 19 from the final over and despite a six from Dirk Nannes, they came up short.Aamer made important late runs and then removed Australia’s openers, but Pakistan had useful contributions from all their key men. Shahid Afridi made a quick 18 and grabbed two wickets, Kamran Akmal, Salman Butt and Umar Akmal all chipped in at the top of the order, and Shoaib Akhtar and Saeed Ajmal were hard to get away.The Rawalpindi Express was out of steam on Monday but had gained momentum 24 hours later. Akhtar has been driving around Birmingham in a red Ferrari over the past few days and perhaps the speedy number inspired him, for he was comfortably the quickest bowler in the match and hovered around 95mph.A couple of sizzling bouncers whizzed past the faces of Australian batsmen but the only man to fall to Akhtar was Tim Paine, who skewed an ugly swipe to mid-off. Akhtar had begun by conceding a pair of fours in his opening over as Michael Clarke showed the sort of Twenty20 form he has not displayed in recent times.Australia had rested Shane Watson, so Clarke took it upon himself to open the innings, finding the gaps and clearing the infield several times with well-judged chips and drives. James Hopes (30) and David Hussey (33) worked the ball around through the middle overs but boundaries were few and far between, and too much work was left too late.Australia had set themselves a task by allowing Pakistan to reach almost the same score as won them the game on Monday. A late 20 not out from Aamer was especially valuable and included a pair of sixes off the debutant spinner Steve O’Keefe and David Hussey. The spinners bowled well, and O’Keefe finished with 3 for 29, which was an impressive return for a man who hadn’t played a Twenty20 for his state for nearly 18 months.Afridi and Umar Akmal provided a key partnership for Pakistan; their 30-run stand included one monstrous six from Afridi, who slapped Shaun Tait straight back over the bowler’s head. The ball cleared the construction area, put a cameraman at risk, and exited the stadium to the roars of the Pakistan fans.Nannes (3 for 30) collected them both in consecutive balls in the 17th over, Umar (25) caught and bowled when his top edge flew so high that almost any member of the infield could have run in and claimed it, and Afridi caught behind for 18. Already, Butt and Kamran Akmal had given them a strong start with a 61-run combination.The left-arm spinner O’Keefe struck in his first over when Butt top-edged a sweep and was caught at short fine leg for 31. Kamran followed soon afterwards for 33 when he skied a pull off Mitchell Johnson and was caught by Clarke running back at midwicket. كشفت تقارير صحفية فرنسية أن هناك إمكانية لمشاركة ساديو ماني، لاعب فريق بايرن ميونخ، في بطولة كأس العالم هذا الشهر رفقة منتخب السنغال.

كان ساديو ماني قد تسبب في إثارة حالة من الذعر لدى منتخب السنغال بعد تعرضه لإصابة في مباراة بايرن ميونخ أمس أمام فيردر بريمن، في الدوري الألماني.

وذكرت تقارير صحفية مختلفة، في الساعات الماضية أن ساديو ماني لن يستطيع المشاركة في مونديال قطر بسبب حجم إصابته.

ولكن شبكة “rmc” الفرنسية ذكرت أنه يمكن لـ ساديو ماني المشاركة بشكل طبيعي في كأس العالم 2022، الذي سينطلق يوم 20 نوفمبر الجاري.

وأوضحت أن هناك حالة من التفاؤل داخل الاتحاد السنغالي لكرة القدم تجاه إمكانية حدوث ذلك.

وأشارت إلى إنه بالنظر إلى قيمة وأهمية ساديو ماني بالنسبة لمنتخب بلاده، فإن المدير الفني إليو سيسيه قد يلجأ إلى اختياره في القائمة النهائية، حتى لو كان لائقًا فقط للمشاركة في المباراة الثالثة في دور المجموعات.

 وأفادت أنه في الوقت الذي تسببت به التقارير الصحفية في موجة صدمة حقيقية في داكار، فلا يزال من المتوقع أن يكون ماني مدرجًا في القائمة التي سيعلن عنها أليو سيسيه يوم الجمعة المقبل.

ويتواجد منتخب السنغال في مجموعة تضم كل من قطر، هولندا، والإكوادور.

ويبدأ منتخب السنغال مشواره في البطولة بمواجهة هولندا يوم الإثنين 21 نوفمبر، ثم قطر يوم 25، وأخيرًا الإكوادور يوم 29.

وقرر مانشيني عدم الاستقالة بعد الكارثة وبدلاً من ذلك سيشرف على ولادة جديدة لمنتخب إيطاليا قبل يورو 2024.

وتحدث عن الصعوبات العاطفية الناجمة عن عدم التأهل لكأس العالم في قطر، وأفاد مانشيني: “كنت أعاني من ذلك بشكل سيء للغاية منذ مارس، كنا نستحق الذهاب، لكن للأسف أضعنا فرصنا”.

وأتم: “هذه هي كرة القدم، بعد الشعور بالرضا الشديد جاءت خيبة أمل كبيرة والآن لا يمكننا فعل أي شيء، كأس العالم مختلف بدون إيطاليا، علينا أن نعمل بالطريقة الصحيحة للتأكد من عدم حدوث ذلك مرة أخرى”.

Aos 39 anos, Sheik não atuava desde o dia 8 de novembro do ano passado, quando defendia a Ponte Preta. Ele iniciou sua preparação no Corinthians no dia 16 de janeiro, passou a treinar normalmente com o elenco no dia 20 e disse ser privilegiado fisicamente.

– Dois meses sem jogar, agora alguns minutos. Esse condicionamento vem com os jogos. Sou um cara privilegiado, segundo os que entendem da parte física. Cheguei, treinei, os testes foram bons. Agora é ritmo. Quem entende de futebol sabe como funciona – afirmou Sheik.

O técnico Fábio Carille analisou a reestreia do atacante, que atuou aberto pelo lado esquerdo, como vem sendo nos treinos no CT Joaquim Grava.

– Sei que falta muito, não só para ele (Sheik), como para a maioria. O jogo me mostrou que ele poderia jogar aberto. O Tony (lateral-direito do Novorizontino) não estava mais descendo naquela parte do jogo. Por isso que coloquei o Sheik aberto – declarou Carille.

Sheik utiliza agora a camisa 47, em referência à data do título da Libertadores de 2012: 4 de julho (4/7/12). Na ocasião, ele fez dois gols na final sobre o Boca Juniors (ARG).

Newcastle United are battling fellow Premier League side Arsenal in the race to sign Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta this summer.

What’s the story?

Having already beaten the Gunners to the signing of Bruno Guimaraes in the January transfer window, it appears that Eddie Howe’s side are keen to strike a second blow to their top-flight counterparts.

According to The Chronicle, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain appear to have pulled out of the race to sign Paqueta given the overall financial package needed, leaving it as a straight two-horse race between Newcastle and Arsenal.

It is added that Magpies head of recruitment Steve Nickson has watched him on multiple occasions now, and that Lyon could reach a tipping point in terms of accepting a fee just like they did with Bruno.

His asking price is a cool £58m, which would make him Newcastle’s club-record signing if purchased for that sum.

When reports initially emerged linking Paqueta with a move to St James’ Park, former Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny talked up the prospect of seeing him link up with his former team-mate Bruno.

The Irishman said: “So they wanted him in January, I don’t see why they wouldn’t be interested again in the summer. He’s clearly a quality player and they have a player who knows him very well.

“To see those two players assisting each other for Brazil is all the proof you need that they are quality players, they are clearly mates who have a good understanding. If he wants to leave Lyon, I’m sure Newcastle will put an offer in and see if they can get him.”

Meanwhile, Brazil manager Tite has previously compared Paqueta to a couple of Brazilian stars, saying: “Lucas thinks about football in the same way as Neymar and Coutinho.

“When we played against El Salvador he had a series of exchanges with Neymar, practically without having seen him before and without playing together. They linked up with their eyes closed.”

Hailed as “extraordinary” by his Lyon manager Peter Bosz, the £60m-rated Paqueta could rekindle his fine partnership with Bruno in the heart of Newcastle’s midfield next season.

It’s the kind of eye-catching, statement-making move which would surely have St James’ Park rocking.

Aston Villa have been tipped by reports to see a number of players move in and out of the club during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Even though there are still a few games left for the Villans to play before the 2021/22 Premier League season draws to a close, it seems as though one current Villa player has already been targeted for a potential summer exit.

What’s the news?

According to a recent report from Football Insider sources, Arsenal are lining up a new move for Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz after failing to land him during the previous January transfer window.

Labelled as an “underrated” player by pundit Ian Wright, the £52k-per-week midfielder is set to see his contract run out in the summer of 2023.

Gerrard would be fuming

Since arriving at the Midlands club back in the 2019 summer transfer window from fellow Premier League side Manchester City in a deal worth a reported fee of £15m, the Brazilian has gone on to become an important figure for the Villans.

With 104 appearances under his belt across all competitions, the 23-year-old has scored four goals and provided eight assists in the process.

Having appeared in 27 league games in this campaign, Luiz has been a regular player for the Villans, leaving John McGinn as the only other midfielder in Steven Gerrard’s squad to have racked up more minutes than the Brazilian.

Earlier in the month, the Villa boss revealed that the former City man is a player that they rate very highly at the club, showing just how keen he would be to see the Brazil international stay at Villa Park.

To highlight just what he offers his side, only McGinn (127) and Matty Cash (156) have a higher number of combined tackles and interceptions than the £31.5m-rated ace (107).

His overall performances for the Villa Park outfit this season have earned Luiz a rating of 6.82 from WhoScored, making him the fifth-highest rated player in Gerrard’s squad.

Taking all of this into account, it’s hard to deny that the 41-year-old would be furious to see the club sell Luiz to another Premier League club this summer rather than tie him down to a new contract.

Also, with 91% of voters in a recent poll ran by Football FanCast claiming the Midlands club should offer the midfielder a new deal, this should be a top priority for the hierarchy at Villa Park.
