Me sinto importante aqui. A comissão técnica conversa comigo, conversa com todos, e sempre passa a importância de cada um no elenco. Não são só 11 jogadores, temos um grupo muito bom, que se repeita muito. Isso ajuda bastante. Sem dúvida nenhuma eu me sito importante aqui dentro do clube – concluiu.

Longuine foi contratado em maio de 2015 após se destacar pelo Audax no Campeonato Paulista.

Jemson: Watford have bought good without spending crazy money

Former professional footballer Nigel Jemson believes that Watford have gained some good players this summer and has praised them for deciding not to go crazy in the transfer market.

The Hornets have added ten new players to their ranks this summer and got their Premier League campaign off to the best possible start as they beat Aston Villa 3-2 at Vicarage Road before their 2-0 defeat to Brighton.

Debutants Emmanuel Dennis and Cucho Hernandez marked their debuts in style, as they got on the scoresheet either side of Ismaila Sarr scoring for Watford during that first game.

After two debutants got on the scoresheet for Watford, Nigel Jemson was asked about the summer recruitment and believes that the club have gained some good players, telling Football FanCast: “Again, you know, do you want Watford to go out there and spend twenty, thirty million on two or three players and it not work and then financially it’s going to kill them.

“You’ve got to be very good; you look at the likes of Burnley with Sean Dyche, they’ve been in the Premiership for quite a while now, but you don’t see him splashing a lot of cash there, you know, he’s very shrewd in his business and you’ve got to take his hat off for that reason, you know. They’ve gained some good players at Watford.”

After a good transfer window and marking their return to the Premier League with a win, there will be an air of optimism and hope around Vicarage Road that the Hornets can have a good season back in the top flight of English football.

Hatfield: Delaney would have been an exciting player for Villa

Denmark midfielder Thomas Delaney would have been an exciting player for Aston Villa, says Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield.

Delaney, who starred for the Euro 2020 semi-finalists, joined Sevilla from Borussia Dortmund in a €6m (£5m) deal last week but had been linked with a move to Villa Park prior.

According to French outlet Homme du Match (via Birmingham Live), Villa were preparing a bid as they looked to bring the 29-year-old to the Midlands.

For Hatfield, it would have been a good acquisition, though he feels it was always just paper talk.

Speaking to TT about Villa’s reported interest in Delaney, the football reporter said:

“I think that was a little bit of paper talk to be honest, probably agent led. He’s sealed a move to Sevilla now, but Delaney would have been an exciting player for Villa.

“I think a lot of Villa fans would have loved that because obviously it’s a big name coming from a big club.”

Villa do look a little light in that defensive midfield position, so an addition like Delaney certainly would have been great.

However, as long as they keep Marvelous Nakamba, who can come in for Douglas Luiz, they should be alright. The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, with Premier League rivals Everton and Crystal Palace named as interested parties.

'I'm raring to go at the Kotla' – Kumble

Anil Kumble, the Indian Test captain, is confident of returning for the third Test against Australia in Delhi, after sitting out the second game in Mohali due to a shoulder injury

Anil Kumble, India’s Test captain, is confident of returning for the third Test against Australia in Delhi after sitting out the second game in Mohali due to a shoulder injury. Kumble said it was unfortunate he could not be part of the combination which achieved India’s biggest Test win in terms of runs – 320 – and that he was looking forward to returning to the Feroz Shah Kotla where he has taken 55 wickets in six games.”It was very heartening to see MS [Dhoni] lead from the front and it was fantastic to watch the way the team approached the game and the intensity we kept up throughout,” Kumble wrote in his syndicated newspaper column. “And while I unfortunately had to sit this one out, I’m raring to get going at the Kotla, my favourite Test centre.”Kumble had a forgettable outing in the first match in Bangalore, going wicketless for only the third time in his Test career. He reacted strongly to media criticism about his captaincy, form, and fitness, and insisted he would return once fully fit.Kris Srikkanth, the new chairman of selectors, agreed that Kumble had a good chance of returning for the Test, starting on October 29. “I’m very confident he will play,” Srikkanth told ABC Radio. “One of the reasons he probably didn’t play this (Mohali) match was so that he gets proper rest for the next two Tests.”Kumble’s return, however, could come at the expense of the legspinner Amit Mishra, who took seven wickets on debut. Kumble was very impressed with Mishra’s use of flight and variations.”With an eye to the future, it also augurs well for India that we’ve found someone like Amit,” Kumble wrote. “An orthodox bowler, he spins the ball a lot, uses his flight very nicely and frankly, it was great watching him. The first five-for I got told me that if I could get one, I could get more. Confidence is critical. As Amit’s five-for has come in his first game itself against Australia, it’s even better for him.”He said Mishra was finally being rewarded after going through the grind in eight domestic seasons. “He bowled beautifully and not just by the debutant yardstick. All the hard yards he’s done as a domestic cricketer served him well here. It’s incredibly tough work, the domestic circuit and Amit serves as a perfect example of what perseverance can do.”

Sunderland error stopped O’Brien loan

An update has emerged on Sunderland forward Aiden O’Brien, regarding his failed deadline day transfer.

What’s the talk?

According to the Doncaster Press, via the Sunderland Echo, a deadline day loan move for Aiden O’Brien to join Doncaster fell through at the last hurdle after the Black Cats issued the player the wrong form to sign.

The report claims that time had run out for the move to be completed by the time the error was corrected, which meant that O’Brien ended up staying at the Stadium of Light.

Howler avoided

Sunderland have managed to inadvertently avoid a key deadline day howler by failing to get the move for O’Brien over the line. It would have been a disaster to send the attacker out on a temporary deal after also allowing Will Grigg to join Rotherham on loan, as it would have left Lee Johnson with little in the way of depth at the top end of the pitch.

Nathan Broadhead and Ross Stewart would have been left to carry the load up front, whilst it would have also left Aiden McGeady as the only recognised left-winger. O’Brien is comfortable playing on the left or through the middle, which makes him a valuable asset to the Black Cats as he can cover in more than one position.

Earlier this season, Johnson heaped praise on the forward and lauded him as both ‘versatile’ and ‘dangerous’. The Sunderland boss said:

“Briz [O’Brien] is quite a versatile player, to be fair.

“He thinks he is a number nine at times, I probably think he is a nine-and-a-half or an 11 cutting in from the left.

“When I came up against him at Millwall, I always found his running power dangerous and difficult to deal with from the left.

“He is the kind of player who could play in two or three positions for us. He has that ability to float inside the pitch, and he is a good footballer – you can trust him with the ball.”

O’Brien has started both of Sunderland’s League Cup matches this season and racked up four goals, averaging a WhoScored rating of 8.20. This, along with Johnson’s comments, suggest that he has the quality to make an impact for the club this season – whether that be in cup runs or as competition in League One.

Therefore, they could have had a disaster moment if they completed the deal to send him out on loan to another team in the division, as they would have ridded themselves of his talents. Fans will surely be relieved that the paperwork error saved Kristjaan Speakman and his team from what could have been a damaging transfer.
