Neil Mellor made just 22 first-team appearances for Liverpool, managing six goals.

They are not exactly statistics of a player who should be well remembered, but a lot of the club’s fans still think about Mellor’s stunning goal against Arsenal.

Indeed, the former striker scored an absolute belter against the Gunners in November 2004, helping secure a 2-1 victory with the 90th-minute effort.

Mellor was eventually forced to retire in 2012 due to a knee injury, but the 37-year-old now regularly works as a pundit for Liverpool’s official television channel.

It was actually the Englishman’s birthday on Monday, and Liverpool’s official Twitter account were on hand with a special message for him.

That led to a number of the club’s fans taking to social media to comment on Mellor and indeed his long-range strike, which was, of course, attached to Liverpool’s birthday post.

وأضاف: “إنه أمر لا يصدق، ولكن إذا كان الحكم الرابع يريد أن يكون بطل الرواية، حسنًا، قلت شيئًا ولكن مع كل الاحترام الواجب، يجيبني بطريقة غير جيدة، لقد قلل من احترامي”.

وأتم كومان تصريحاته مؤكدًا: “إذا وضعوا شيئًا في التقرير لم أقله، فيجب حينها أن أفعل شيئًا”.

There are many young players who come into the first-team and provide some exciting early signs, but it’s staying in the manager’s plans that can be the difficult part.

The early signs suggest that 18-year-old Arsenal academy product Bukayo Saka is managing to do just that with Unai Emery.

His big performance this season came in the Europa League, when his goal from a brilliant strike taken outside the box was sandwiched between assists, ensuring that Arsenal left Germany with three points.

While it would have been easy for the teenager to fade into the background after this, he went on to play a half against Aston Villa just three days later.

That was then followed up by 80 minutes against Manchester United, in which he assisted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as the Gunners went on their way to a 1-1 draw.

He has been helped by injuries at times, but the teenager has so far defied any suggestion that he could be phased out and placed back in the shadows, even with £72m summer signing Nicolas Pepe playing in the same position as him.

This attitude is displayed by his comments, quoted by football.london, when Alexandre Lacazette returned from injury: “The boss knows what I can do, what the other players can do. Different games require different players but I feel like I’ve shown the boss he can trust me. Whatever game he puts me in I’ll always give it my all.

“The boss has really trusted me and put a lot of faith in me. I just try to work hard in training every day, he has given me the opportunity to work in this team. I’ve learned so much from the other players and it’s showing on the pitch.”

This is the type of attitude that his peers from the academy must adopt if they are to take their place in the first-team on a long-term basis.

Saka plays in a position where competition is intense due to the collection of exciting talent who play in  a similar role, yet he is making sure that Emery continues to take notice of him.

He is not a regular yet, but at 18-years-old, Saka is getting plenty of involvement and Arsenal’s youngsters should look at his achievements and aim to emulate them.

وأكمل: “كنت أتمنى أن يبدأ الزمالك بشخصيته الكبيرة ويخيف المنافس، ولكن التحول في الشوط الثاني حدث من خلال التغييرات، وأشرف بن شرقي كان المفتاح الذهبي للفريق”.

وأتم: “على الزملكاوية أن يتقبلون نتيجة اليوم، لأن هناك أهدافًا بالجملة ضاعت”.

أكد أشرف عبد العزيز محامي عبد الله السعيد لاعب بيراميدز أن اللجنة الأولمبية أو مركز التسوية والتحكيم الرياضي التابع لها، ليسا جهة اختصاص، وأن الفيفا هو الجهة الوحيدة المختصة بالنظر في أي أزمة أو نزاع ينشأ بشأن العقد المبرم بين الأهلي والأهلي السعودي وعبد الله السعيد.

وأكد أن تلك هي اللوائح العالمية لكرة القدم، كما أن العقد نص صراحة في بنده الثامن على “اتفق جميع الأطراف أنه في حالة حدوث أي نزاع أو خلاف قد ينشأ بشأن هذا العقد، فيتم اللجوء إلى الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم فيفا، ويكون دون غيره هو المختص في الفصل في هذا النزاع أو الخلاف، وذلك لاتخاذ القرار المناسب وفقا للقواعد والقوانين المنظمة لذلك، ويكون قرار الفيفا نهائيًا في هذا الشأن”.

وأشار إلى أن المعضلة الرئيسية في هذا الملف، هي البند الرابع والذي ينص على: “لا يجوز إعادة بيع اللاعب أو إعارته إلى أي نادي داخل جمهورية مصر العربية، بأي حال من الأحوال، وذلك لمدة ثلاثة مواسم كروية، منذ توقيع هذا العقد”.

وفسر ذلك قائلا: “اللاعب قام بفسخ تعاقده مع الأهلي السعودي، وانتقل إلى نادي جديد، ولم يخترق أي بند من بنود التعاقد، فلم يتم بيعه أو إعارته، ولكنه انتقل انتقالا حرا بعد فسخ التعاقد بين الطرفين، ولا يحق للنادي الأهلي المصري طلب أي شروط جزائية من النادي السعودي أو اللاعب، وهذا ما أقره الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم في 17 أبريل من عام 2020، وإلزام النادي الأهلي المصري بكل المصروفات، والمقدرة حينها بقيمة 15 ألف فرانك سويسري، وهذا حكاما نهائيا غير قابل للاستئناف، أو الطعن، أو تقديم شكوى في أي جهة أخرى”.

Everton’s forgotten man Cenk Tosun has earned the plaudits from former England international Danny Mills with his efforts in recent times. The striker has forced his way back into Marco Silva’s plans lately and Mills has put down to his incredible work ethic.

What did he say?

Tosun has struggled since he left Besiktas for Merseyside for £27m, scoring just 10 goals in 48 appearances with the Toffees. Plus, his late equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur a few weeks back was his first goal since May.

However, Tosun has seemingly worked exceptionally hard to fight back for his spot in the side just months after speculation emerged linking him with a move away from the club. The reports over the summer stated that a return to Besiktas was on the cards, whilst strong interest from Qatar has also been documented.

Mills told Football Insider: “He was out the door, wasn’t he? He was about to leave but it goes to show it can happen, players come back in, they’re part of your squad and you have to use them.”

“He’s clearly worked very, very hard in training, he’s deserved his start, he got his goal (v Spurs), he’s put the effort in, that is decent management.

“All credit to the player who hasn’t sulked, who hasn’t gone and sat on his laurels and thought: ‘You know what? They didn’t want me, I’ll just take my money and sit in the reserves. No, I’ll do the best I possibly can and see where that takes me.'”

Time to ignite the old flame

Prior to his move to Goodison Park, Tosun was in great form back in his homeland.

The striker bagged 20 goals in the Super Lig season of 2016/17 and then scored eight league goals in 16 the season after. Now, with Everton still struggling, it’s time for Silva to ignite this old flame.

Also, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, despite scoring five goals so far, has largely struggled in Everton colours. The Englishman has just 22 goals in 106 appearances and has not been able to consistently hit the back of the net.

Now, it’s time for Tosun to get back to his old ways and really kick on for Everton.

Newcastle are interested in signing Real Valladolid’s Mohammed Salisu, according to Spanish outlet Pucela Fichajes.

What’s the word?

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough in La Liga this season and his impressive performances have reportedly caught the eye of several clubs across Europe.

As well as the Magpies, Everton, Schalke and Sevilla are among the clubs interested, with each considering a bid of €12m (£10.2m), a fee which would activate the defender’s release clause.

Sevilla and Everton are believed to be leading the race currently, but since a bid is yet to be submitted by any party it still remains unclear where his future lies.

Planning for the future

At first glance it seems a little odd that Newcastle are taking interest in another central defender, as it is the area of their squad that is most well-stocked with six players able to play there.

However, it is a positive step to take, as if he did join he’d have a plethora of individuals to learn from, and could gradually be eased into the starting line-up by Steve Bruce.

That would allow him to build his understanding of the Premier League and adopt the best attributes of those at the club, which could be massive in his improvement.

Planning for the long-term is a transfer strategy that has been quite alien to Newcastle in the past few months and years, and that could be a reason why they have stagnated a little since promotion in 2017.

Examples such as Fabian Schar, Andy Carroll and Salomon Rondon have arrived with varying success, with the latter two appearing to be short-term solutions.

Now with a new manager who is looking to stay at the long-term there is an opportunity to build something, if funds are available, and following the astute additions of Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Willems, Salisu could be next to impress.

Operating with three centre-backs means the Ghanaian should get his chance even if he joined in January, and given he has conceded 17 goals in 13 La Liga appearances this season, skewed a little with five of those coming against Barcelona, he has the potential to make a surprise impact.

وحضر الاجتماع جميع الحكام والمساعدين الدوليين وحكام الدرجة الأولى المشاركين في إدارة مباريات القسم الأول للدوري العام.

استطاع أحمد ياسر ريان لاعب سيراميكا كليوباترا قيادة فريقه للفوز أمام بيراميدز بنتيجة 4-2، في المباراة التي جمعت بينهما ضمن منافسات الدوري المصري.

The international break arguably came at the worst possible time for Manchester United. The Red Devils were on a run of five wins in their last six matches across all competitions, and no doubt would have been hoping that they could simply keep going forward with all their built-up momentum.

Instead, they have had to take a couple of weeks away, but return on Sunday afternoon to take on Dean Wilder’s Sheffield United. The Blades have been admirably punching above their weight all season, finding themselves in fifth in the Premier League table – two places and one point above Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

A game at Bramall Lane has already proven to be a tricky hurdle to overcome for top-four rivals Arsenal this season – the Gunners lost there 1-0 – so United will have to be at their best to pick up all three points. Below is how they could line-up at the weekend.

Despite Luke Shaw returning to first-team training after a number of months out this season, it is unlikely Solskjaer will risk him from the start against Sheffield United, particularly with such little match-practice. That could mean academy graduate Brandon Williams gets another opportunity to shine at left-back – the teenager certainly won the approval of the Old Trafford faithful last time out against Brighton.

With no real changes expected amongst the back-line, Scott McTominay’s untimely injury gives the United boss his first real selection headache. The Scotland international has become one of the side’s most trusted and reliable performers and has featured in every single Premier League game this season. In his absence, Solskjaer may opt to change up his set-up and go for a 4-3-3 and simply have Fred as his only holding midfielder.

That could see Juan Mata and Andreas Pereira play ahead of the Brazil international and help take the game to the Blades. In attack, the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James will undoubtedly resume their devastating trident, and will surely be the key to whether the Red Devils can pick up a win.
