Imagine the scenes if Aston Villa somehow manage to barge their way into the play-off places in the current campaign after experiencing a roller-coaster ride of emotions at Villa Park. 

Jack Grealish’s return has lifted the mood at Villa Park as just about every supporter now believes that their side can go all the way in the Championship this season, especially after witnessing his performance last time out.

And, as if Grealish’s return wasn’t enough, it appears as if Dean Smith is set to welcome another couple of first-team members back from injury, as according to Birmingham Live, Axel Tuanzebe and Henri Lansbury have returned to training and Smith expects them to be available for the Blackburn clash.

Aston Villa fans will inevitably be pleased with Tuanzebe’s return as he’s already made a big impact in the current campaign, but Lansbury has struggled to make many inroads in recent years at Villa Park.

However, Lansbury has the ability to boost Aston Villa’s play-off chances massively and could become a secret weapon from here on in until the end of the season. Indeed, the Englishman has shown just how dangerous he can be over the years in the Championship as he scored 33 goals and provided 20 assists during his time at Nottingham Forest, and he’s displayed moments of promise at Villa Park but has never really been given a fair chance.

His attacking runs from the middle of midfield could cause all sorts of problems for the opposition in the final third and he has the quality to find the back of the net from long range, as well as picking defence-splitting pass. It’s safe to say that a midfield that involves the 28-year-old, Hourihane and John McGinn would definitely get fans excited, especially with Jack Grealish buzzing around in front of the midfield three.

واصلت لاعبة كرة التنس التونسية أنس جابر تألقها في بطولة رولان جاروس واستطاعت الوصول إلى دور الـ16 لأول مرة في تاريخها.

Aston Villa have had their fair share of poor transfer dealings over recent years, haven’t they? The club have made moves for both experienced players who should have the know-how to succeed, as well as younger faces who can inject energy in the side. Either way, both calibres of players have had mixed fortunes in the Midlands.

This season, Villa’s approach to transfers has largely paid dividends. The permanent signing of John McGinn, as well as loan moves for Tammy Abraham and Tyrone Mings particularly stand out due to their performances in a claret and blue shirt during their time at Villa Park.

However, not all transfers are able to have such an effect on the side. With that being said, let’s take a look at two of the worst Villa transfers over the past five years…

Micah Richards

Richards was Tim Sherwood’s first official signing as Villa manager in 2015 and upon his arrival, he was made club captain. Given his credentials and understanding of the League, it seemed to be a positive addition.

In his first campaign, injuries and poor showings from himself in a lacklustre side meant Richards was in-and-out of the side after the turn of the year.

The following season he made three appearances, the last one came in October 2016 after he came off against Wolves and he has not played for Villa since.

The 30-year-old is reportedly on £35,000 per week, as reported by BirminghamLive and to be paying a player a significant amount of money when the situation is completely unknown is just baffling. Richards’ contract expires in the summer so that will surely bring an end to his four-year affiliation with the club.

Joleon Lescott

Lescott joined from West Bromwich Albion in the same summer that his ex-Manchester City teammate joined Villa too.

He made 31 appearances for Villa that season, with a significant number of them being substandard defensive showings as Lescott seemed to be a shadow of his former-self that had been so dominant in years gone by.

His reputation among the fans was not done any favours through the infamous tweet of a Mercedes following a 6-0 defeat at home to Liverpool and the former-England international did then move on to AEK Athens soon after. He has since retired following a spell at Sunderland and leaves little to no legacy at Villa Park.

وأضاف: “هذا حقي، ما المشكلة في أن أخذ كل طرق التقاضي أو أقدم شكوى خارج مصر؟، لست أول شخص يقدم شكوى بالخارج، وإذا وُجدت ثغرة إدارية في المباراة سيكون لي الشرف أن أسعى لكشفها”.

وأضاف: “لا ألوم على الحكم فلنا ضربة جزاء لكنه كان تحت ضغوط عصيبة شديدة جدًا، وهو ما زال صغيرًا ولم يصل للدرجة الدولية والكرة لم تلفت نظره ولم يسأل الفار وهم لم يبلغوه”.

وأدار الحكم طارق مجدي مباراة الزمالك وسموحة في دور الـ16 لبطولة كأس مصر.

وواصل رئيس سموحة: “أنا غير محظوظ أمام الزمالك، ودائمًا تكون كفتي الأعلى في اللقاء، لكن تحدث أخطاء تحكيمية تكون عكس سير اللعب”.

وأردف: “سموحة يجيد اللعب أمام كل فرق الدوري المصري”.

وعندما سئل عن موقفه من انتقال حسام حسن للزمالك حال تلقيه عرضًا أجاب: “لم لا؟ أنا لا أكره الزمالك بل أحبه، وعندما كان يريد تأجيل المباراة بسبب بطولة إفريقيا وافقت من أجلهم”.

واستأنف: “الزمالك فريق مصري ولو حصد اللقب الإفريقي سيكون شرفًا لمصر، والأهلي وبيراميدز أيضًا، لكن يوجد شخص في الزمالك لا علاقة لنا به”.

وعن حقيقة مفاوضات سموحة مع أطهر الطاهر لاعب الهلال السوداني تحدث: “مجرد كلام، ولم يوقع لنا”.

Sanchez’s failures are all the more highlighted due to the astronomical figures that he takes home. The 30-year-old reportedly earns a whopping £500,000-per-week in Manchester, a sum that will make it very difficult to find a buyer for the big-money flop.

The influential winger has working overtime to regain fitness, but risking him against the Terriers could re-aggravate his injury to cause even bigger headaches for Palace.

Right now, it’s more important for him to upset Tottenham in their new home ground rather than pulling off the magnificent against relegation strugglers. Indeed, imagine how differently the campaign would look if Palace were able to spoil Spurs’ party, recording a historic win and really upsetting the odds.

Indeed, a fully-fit Zaha needs to be unleashed at White Hart Lane for Hodgson to record a famous victory and regain his reputation as a big-game expert. The Ivory Coast international, who is valued at £31.5 million (by Transfermarkt), has been on absolute fire this season having produced eight goals and five assists.

In their first game of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s permanent managerial reign, Manchester United scraped through a win like the old days. They were outworked and outwitted, but swift counter-attacks along with surprisingly stern defending from the back four allowed them to see through the result.

David Moyes signed Juan Mata back in January of 2014 and it’s safe to say he proved to be a genius signing.

However, United couldn’t move as quickly as they wanted to, mostly due to Juan Mata’s lethargic display as their No 10. The Spaniard made his first start since the Liverpool draw and was extremely unconvincing in being the key to unlock Watford’s defence.

Indeed, he was poor in movement, often slowing down United’s attack with his predictable passing. Undoubtedly one of the most gifted playmakers we’ve seen in the Premier League in recent years, perhaps this is a season too far for a player so clearly on the wane.

While Mata did link-up well with Anthony Martial, he could never churn that killer pass to his forwards, something so natural to him a few years ago. After being taken off, his replacement Jesse Lingard’s swiftness into action allowed United to seal the deal when he laid Martial’s winner after coming on. Sadly, the England international’s incisiveness is not something Mata can replicate anymore.

In the system Solskjaer prefers, the Spaniard is turning into a liability. He can’t just sit in one place and dictate games like he used to. Under the Norwegian, he’s only assisted one goal in seven games and he isn’t agile enough nor creative enough to actually make the forward runs and dictate the tempo of United’s fast-paced system.

As his contract runs down this summer (as per the Sun), the Red Devils shouldn’t bother renewing it. Mata doesn’t suit Solskjaer’s shape at all, as he should be allowed to leave and be replaced with an emerging youth academy star.

وتصل حافلة الفريق إلى ملعب المباراة قبل انطلاقها بساعة ونصف، وفقا لما تم الاتفاق عليه في الاجتماع الفني.

وتناولت بعثة الأهلي في العاشرة صباح اليوم وجبة الإفطار، بعدما وضع الجهاز الفني برنامج اليوم الأخير بالمغرب.

ومن المقرر أن تتناول البعثة وجبة الغداء في الثانية ظهرًا على أن يحصل الفريق على وجبة خفيفة في الخامسة مساء قبل التحرك إلى ملعب المباراة.

وبعقد بيتسو موسيماني جلسة أخيرة مع جهازه المعاون؛ من أجل التحضير لمباراة الوداد المغربي، وتشهد الجلسة مراجعة كافة الأمور الفنية الخاصة بالتحضير للقاء اليوم.

وبدأ اللاعب في أداء تدريبات خفيفة بالكرة على هامش مران الفريق الجماعي أمس، الجمعة، بالمغرب قبل مواجهة الوداد تمهيدًا لعودته خلال الفترة المقبلة للتدريبات.

ويؤدي اللاعب برنامجا علاجيا وتأهيليا شاملا شهد بدء تنفيذ بعض التدريبات الخفيفة من أجل تجهيزه بشكل تدريجي للتدريبات الجماعية.

وتغادر بعثة النادي الأهلي مطار محمد الخامس بالدار البيضاء في الساعات الأولى من صباح غد الأحد، عقب خوض مباراة الوداد وتستغرق رحلة العودة إلى القاهرة خمس ساعات ونصف تقريبا.
