Redknapp claims Pogba will never forgive Mourinho, Manchester United fans react

Paul Pogba’s relationship with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been filling newspaper columns for weeks now.

After the midfielder was dropped a handful of times, questions were raised over the £89m man’s long-term future at Old Trafford.

Pogba has been relatively quiet about the speculation, but that has not prevented pundits and fans from commenting on the situation.

While speaking to SkyBet, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp claimed that the former Juventus star will not ever forgive his manager for leaving him out of the first XI a handful of times.

So far this season, the midfielder has made 23 appearances in all competitions, including 18 in the Premier League, in which he has scored three goals and created nine assists.

Mourinho has come under fire from all quarters over the last few days due to his outbursts in the media.

It seems that Redknapp is throwing fuel to the fire, and United fans have had plenty to say.

Onazi could be fantastic coup for Newcastle

According to reports, Newcastle are interested in Nigeria midfielder Eddy Onazi.

What’s the word?

Steve Nickson, Newcastle’s head of recruitment, was in attendance on Tuesday to watch Nigeria and Serbia face off in an international friendly.

Of course, Nickson could have been there to check on the progress of Aleksandar Mitrović, but that seems like more of a task for a coach or scout than the head of recruitment.

On top of that, allnigeriasoccer.com reports that Newcastle have had interest in Onazi before, and could revisit that interest this summer.

David Moyes was also in attendance for the friendly, so there could be some competition for the 25 year-old midfielder.

Good fit on Tyneside?

Onazi rose through the youth ranks at Lazio before making 76 league appearances for the senior side. Since his move to Trabzonspor in 2016, the Nigerian international has grabbed three goals in 36 league appearances in Turkey.

What will really appeal to Rafa Benitez about this player is his versatility. The best way to describe him to Newcastle fans is like if Vurnon Anita was good. He can play in central midfield, he can play as a full back, but he is best as a defensive midfielder.

Onazi already has nearly 50 caps for Nigeria despite being only 25. He is averaging an impressive 2.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, and 2.2 successful long balls per game in Turkey this season.

Valued at just £3.6million on Transfermarkt, Onazi would be a great coup for Newcastle. His tough tackling and reading of the game would please the fans, and he has an eye for a pass too.

Man United fans are not impressed at all with Lingard’s recent form

Manchester United went into the match against basement club West Brom in search of what should have been a routine win after their sensational comeback victory in their previous fixture, the Manchester derby.

Yet, United produced an abject performance, devoid of speed, creativity and flair and contrived to lose to Darren Moore’s all-but-relegated Baggies thanks to a second half Jay Rodriguez goal.

The display was flat and it was matched by apathy in the stands and it was a lesson in how to halt momentum, generated by that thrilling 3-2 win at the Etihad.

Jesse Lingard was benched for the visit of the league’s bottom side but was introduced at half-time for Paul Pogba who was man of the match last week but struggled here.

After the match, footage emerged of Lingard with a fan but some United fans appear to think that his outgoing personality doesn’t make up for his failings on the pitch.

Tottenham fans congratulate Son after he is named Asia’s best player

Mauricio Pochettino has spent the last two summer transfer windows looking for the ideal backup to Harry Kane but the solution might well lie within his own club, in the shape of Heung-min Son.

The South Korean international, valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, has enjoyed an outstanding season and some of his best work has been done when filling in for Kane in the centre-forward position.

His Spurs performances have earned him the award of Best Footballer in Asia for the third time in a row as he gears up to help his country spring a few surprises in this summer’s World Cup.

Some cynics might say that it is biggest piece of silverware Spurs will have to celebrate this season but the club’s fans were keen to show their appreciation for a player who has come on leaps and bounds this term.

We’ve taken a closer look at the best of the reaction…

Aston Villa fans blast Taylor on social media

Aston Villa will play their final league match of the 2017-18 Championship campaign against Millwall this weekend, before turning their attention to the playoffs.

One player that will not be involved against Millwall though is full-back Neil Taylor, who is struggling to overcome a hamstring problem.

News of Taylor’s absence landed on Villa’s Twitter account on Thursday, and it would be fair to say that the response to the injury update was not kind.

Taylor has made 29 appearances in all competitions for Villa during the 2017-18 campaign, and actually has a contract at Villa Park until the summer of 2021 having only made the move from Swansea City in January 2017.

The 29-year-old, who is valued at £4.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, has struggled to impress for long spells, however, and the Villa supporters have simply not taken to the Welshman since his arrival.

Taylor will not be involved this weekend, and the club’s fanbase want head coach Steve Bruce to sanction his exit in this summer’s transfer window.

Arsenal fans react as Karim Benzema scores CL brace for Real Madrid

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, who is rated at £45m by Transfermarkt, scored both of his side’s goals in their 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night that ensured that they reached the final of the Champions League, and Arsenal fans were quick to have their say on the Frenchman’s performance.

The Gunners have been almost continually linked with a move for the 30-year-old over the years, but a deal to bring him to the Emirates Stadium has never materialised.

The centre-forward’s brace against Bayern was a rare highlight for the France international in what has been a disappointing campaign in terms of goalscoring for the La Liga giants – he has only found the net 11 times in 42 appearances in all competitions.

Arsenal supporters, who are desperate on Twitter for Santi Cazorla to return before the end of the season, took to social media to give their thoughts on Benzema’s latest display, and while one said “Arsenal, please sign Benzema”, another said “Benzema playing like he wants to go to Arsenal in the summer”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…

Revealed: Tottenham Hotspur fans divided on idea of moving for Pepe Reina

Hugo Lloris is in no serious danger of losing his position as Tottenham Hotspur’s number one goalkeeper, but he has been criticised by fans following some poor performances.

The Frenchman has made a few notable mistakes in between the sticks, but for the majority of the campaign he has been solid.

Despite this, Tottenham could be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.

Current number two, Michel Vorm, is out of contract at the end of the season and it is unclear whether he will be offered fresh terms.

The former Swansea City shot-stopper has struggled to provide serious competition for Lloris, so perhaps Spurs should find a goalkeeper that can.

Pepe Reina is in a similar position at Napoli in that he, too, will be a free agent this summer.

The Spaniard is well-versed in Premier League football having spent nine years at Liverpool between 2005 and 2014.

Given that Reina still competes at the top level suggests that he would not be entirely satisfied being number two, but we asked you whether Tottenham should swoop for the 35-year-old, and judging by the results, his arrival would divide supporters.

Everton fans can’t believe Allardyce’s parting comments

Everton fans are crucifying Sam Allardyce, after their former manager said “most fans†did not want him to be sacked. With the exception of Alan Pardew at Newcastle, you’d be hard pushed to find a more toxic relationship between fans and manager in recent years than Sam Allardyce at Everton.Allardyce did exactly what he was brought to the club to do, making them harder to beat, saving them from a relegation scrap, and stabilising the club. The former England man alienated the fans though, failing to sympathise with their frustrations about his style of play and even throwing in a few bizarre boasts along the way.Fans were delighted when the experienced manager left the club on Wednesday, and they’re once again bashing their former leader for his departing comments.[ad_pod ]”I would say most of them (Everton fans) didn’t want me out. Not everybody has the same opinion as some few,†Big Sam told talkSPORT.“The fans who show discontent are always more vocal.“The club was in a very difficult position, but it improved as time went on.“If it wasn’t enough for the Everton fans at that time who were showing some discontent, I think there were certainly more fans who were happy with what we were doing than the ones that weren’t.â€It’s safe to say Everton fans don’t agree with this, although there are certainly a few who appreciate what Allardyce did for the club.Fans have been absolutely destroying him on Twitter, and some of the best reactions can be found below…

Revealed: Large majority of West Ham fans want club to splash out on Joao Mario

According to reports in the Evening Standard, Inter Milan would prefer to sell midfielder Joao Mario to West Ham United for a permanent £26m fee, with the east London club said to be more interested in another loan deal.

The Portugal international was solid, if unspectacular, having moved to the London Stadium on a temporary basis from the Serie A giants during the January transfer window, but the Euro 2016 winner certainly showed more than a few glimpses of the quality he has in his locker.

The £26m fee would surpass the club-record deal that saw the Irons buy Marko Arnautovic from Stoke City last summer, although it would potentially be a big hit in new manager Manuel Pellegrini’s transfer budget as he looks to significantly strengthen his squad.

We asked West Ham supporters to vote on our poll to see whether they thought their club should splash the cash on the 25-year-old, and a huge 79% said they would.

The Irons have also been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore, who like Joao Mario prefers to play in an attacking midfield role, and it could prove to be one or the other for the east London outfit before the transfer window slams shut on August 9.

Keinan Davis and Andre Green represent wise investments for Southampton

Southampton are interested in bringing Aston Villa duo Keinan Davis and Andre Green to St Mary’s this transfer window according to the Daily Mail.

What’s the story?

It’s no secret that Villa are desperately trying to raise funds to avoid going into liquidation and that could mean selling some of their prize assets.

20-year-old Keinan Davis broke into the first team last season and had a very impressive spell up-front, while Green, 19, would have added to his four appearances before he suffered a bad injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

According to the Mail, the duo could be available for £3-4million and Southampton are keen on bringing the young duo to the south coast.

Are they worth it?

With so few senior games between them, it’s hard to judge the pair at the moment but they clearly have a lot of promise.

They are available on the cheap because of Villa’s financial troubles and Southampton would be wise to invest in two such talented English youngsters.

They are unlikely to feature for the Saints any time soon and will likely be loaned out to gain more first-team experience, but they could represent a shrewd investment in years to come.
